▶ 8:15 Scott M. Forbes: Melrose High School educator Lisa Lord was recognized earlier this year at the State House as one of the unsung heroines of Massachusetts. I remember reading a quote from the mayor's blog that described this honorable achievement. It reads as follows. The unsung heroines are women that don't always make the news but truly make the difference. They are the women that use their time, talent, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others and to make a difference in their neighborhoods, their cities, and their towns. After reading that, I think that really does describe Lisa to a T. You only have to talk to her for just a few moments before you realize how dedicated and passionate she is about her work, and it is that dedication and that passion that has allowed our community to

Forbes: thrive and flourish in ways that have exceeded all of our expectations lisa continues to open the doors of opportunity to her students and successfully bridge the younger generation with an older generation of veterans these bonds and friendships that have been created throughout the years will most certainly last a lifetime in addition lisa's efforts bring an already close-knit veteran community even closer some of them are here this evening providing a platform for our local heroes to interact and contribute to the overall success of our community so we are all truly grateful for the work that you do the city of melrose is definitely a better place because of your hard work and dedication the resolution reads as follows a resolution honoring

Forbes: lisa lord whereas lisa is the president and founder of the melrose veterans memory project which continues to grow in high school student membership beginning with just a dozen students three years ago to more than 30 today whereas lisa completed her ninth veterans in the classroom event this initiative started with six veterans in her homeroom class moved to the high school resource center and is currently being held next door at the soldiers and sailors memorial building due to growth and popularity the event now connects more than 100 students with 30 veterans annually from world war ii to present day whereas lisa coordinates the veteran memorial cleanup at at Wyoming Cemetery and the Knoll annually

Whereas Lisa is a key member of the Melrose Veterans Advisory Board, participating in activities such as food drives, memorial restoration projects, veteran history projects, and Memorial Day parade ceremonies. Whereas Lisa serves as the leader for several city research projects including veteran memorials, veteran grave sites at Wyoming Cemetery, and the collection of veteran personal history narratives. whereas Lisa and her students actively collect historical artifacts from community members, preserving the history in physical and digital formats, creating an archive of Melrose military history that is invaluable. Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the mayor, and members of the Board of Aldermen,

▶ 15:40 Peter D. Mortimer: Harrison is joined here in our chambers this evening by Scoutmaster Chris Lippert, by his father, Eric Hahn, and by his mother, Maureen Sullivan Hahn. Very nice to see his family here. Harrison is home from college, and he was working at Turner's just moments before he rushed over here to get off work early, but that's the type of young man he is. Home from college and instead of just relaxing he's right there out working and he went in early so he could get out early because the Boy Scout motto was be prepared and he was prepared and he is here tonight for this resolution which I will read now. A resolution honoring Harrison Sean Hahn for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Whereas Harrison Sean Hahn was born and

▶ 16:42 Peter D. Mortimer: raised in Melrose, Massachusetts. At the age of seven, he joined PAC 635 as a Tiger Cub and advanced through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, and Bear, and Weeblos Scout. His proudest moment as a Weeblos was to carry the American flag for the Melrose Memorial Day Parade in 2004. He also won awards in the Pinewood Derby and participated in several blue and gold banquets. Harrison received the Arrow of Light Award before crossing over to Boy Scout Troop 635. Whereas Harrison held several leadership roles in the troop, including Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, and Troop Guide. Whereas Harrison was inducted into the Order of the Arrow as an ordeal member,

▶ 17:37 Peter D. Mortimer: he also participated in four summer camp encampments with his troop at T.L. Storer Scout Reservation where he enjoyed the shotgun and rifle range, the mountain man program, and the wilderness challenge. Harrison earned numerous merit badges while at camp. He led his patrol on several Klondike challenges where the patrol earned many distinctions and awards. Harrison also participated in a Philmont trek where he earned his 50-miler badge and was elected by his crew to be its Wilderness Pledge Guia, that means guide. As Guia, he helped the crew understand and focus on camping practices that follow the principles of the Philmont Wilderness Pledge and leave no trace. Whereas Harrison attended Malden Catholic High School and graduated in 2015,

Mortimer: his many activities included playing four years of varsity lacrosse, volunteering with his classmates serving dinner to senior citizens, participating in community service projects, corral, ski and social clubs. Harrison also played club lacrosse and participated in nine different tournaments. His efforts both academically and on the athletic field did not go unnoticed as he was recruited to play for the Division III conference champions, the Western New England Golden Bears. Whereas Harrison plans to complete his Bachelor's of Science degree in criminal justice at Western New England University and pursue a career in federal law enforcement, he is an avid hiker, skier, sports shooter and all-terrain vehicle rider who continues to do these activities

▶ 19:25 Peter D. Mortimer: in college as time allows. Harrison currently has a very full schedule with course work at Western New England University, sports and reserve officer training candidate work. He recently returned from his weekend encampment at Camp Edwards. While there, he was noted to have exceptional physical abilities, running a five-minute and 45-second mile. In addition, he was commended for his navigational skills in front of his entire battalion. Whereas Harrison's Eagle Scout leadership project involved a two-mile hiking trail improvement at Braycott Reservation in Saugus, Massachusetts, the original trail had developed into a series of side trails to avoid downed trees and water hazards that no longer existed, leading many

▶ 20:19 Peter D. Mortimer: hikers off the intended path, including the ranger of the park. Harrison worked with the Department of Conservation and Recreation to develop his plan and to gather resources for completion. The project was completed in April of 2015 and has helped countless hikers find their way over rocky and previously unmarked terrain. ▶ 25:28 board member of bread of life and consultant to camp surefire foundation whereas Jacqueline lavender bird was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board of alderman and in 2011 and was twice thereafter elected to a two-year term as alderman at large serving as chairman of the protection and license committee in 2013 2014 and 2015 whereas alderman lavender bird spent a great deal of time researching and reviewing all of the issues which became before the board and made certain that she asked questions and raised issues which led to an informed informed policy discussion and debate enlightened her colleagues and resulted in sound public policy discussions and decisions whereas alderman lavender bird demonstrated her devotion to the rights
