▶ 24:59 Speaker 8: graduate of melrose high school whereas jacqueline lavender bird comes from a family with a long and esteemed tradition of service to the community whereas alderman lavender bird and her husband brian chose to settle in melrose and raise their sons jake and josh in the city whereas alderman lavender bird's numerous volunteer positions include serving as president of the franklin school early childhood pto fundraising chairman of the north suburban family network board member of bread of life and consultant to camp surefire foundation whereas Jacqueline lavender bird was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board of alderman and in 2011 and was twice thereafter elected to a two-year term as alderman at large serving as chairman of the protection and license committee in 2013 2014 and 2015 whereas alderman lavender bird spent a great deal of time researching and reviewing all of the issues which became before the board and made certain that she asked questions and raised issues which led to an informed informed policy discussion and debate enlightened her colleagues and resulted in sound public policy discussions and decisions whereas alderman lavender bird demonstrated her devotion to the rights of all citizens by sponsoring an ordinance change to extend protection of the Melrose civil rights ordinances whereas alderman lavender bird balanced her strong support for the Melrose public schools with a sense of fiscal responsibility whereas alderman lavender bird at all times conducted herself with dignity respect for others and served as an example to her fellow board members in the public be it resolved that we the members of the Board of Aldermen do hereby express our sincere appreciation to Alderman Jacqueline Lavender Byrd for her exemplary service as an alderman at large and her service to the City of Melrose which has elevated the deliberations of the Board of Aldermen and be it further resolved that on this 21st day of December in the City of Melrose in the year 2015 a copy of this resolution shall be spread upon the
