Mike, I wanted to catch everyone in the last meeting the year um specifically with respect to the order recognizing president Grigoraitis uh as a resident i i just wanted to express my thanks this year for how well everyone has done um with the remote format i've been tremendously appreciative of um of how open and accessible and well-run the meetings have been um and i really want to you know thank uh ms foote and ms camosa and president Grigoraitis for for setting such a great tone um for for the rest of the city like i said the
▶ 3:06 transparency has been great and i know this isn't the first year um that you all wanted um but as a resident i think it's been tremendous um you know in-person meetings aren't getting more accessible but I think that the technology going forward to allow remote participation is just going to become more and more accessible. And it's my strong hope that in future years, as things get back to normal, that we can figure out a way to preserve this. And I think the job you all have done demonstrating how well remote access can be done has really been great. And it reads, whereas City President Jennifer Grigoraitis has served as President of the City Council for the City of Melrose for the year 2020, and whereas the City Council congratulates President Grigoraitis for completing her first year as Ward 6 Counselor for the City of Melrose and appreciates her commitment to serving Melrose, And whereas the board recognizes that President Grigoraitis dedication to our community extends well beyond her efforts in this chamber. And whereas that President Grigoraitis led the city council, which had nine new members elected in 2020 and provided guidance, acumen, and respect to all members of the council.

And whereas President Grigoraitis has demonstrated her interest in the community as a past member of the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, PTO volunteer, one Melrose Steering Committee and Melrose Education Foundation. And whereas that President Grigoraitis contributes to the civil service in the Commonwealth in her role as the chief of staff at the Massachusetts Office of Victims Assistance. And whereas that President Grigoraitis husband,

And be it resolved that we, the members of the city council do hereby express our sincere appreciation to president Grigoraitis for her able administration of the office of the president and for office for her efforts on behalf of the city of melrose and in recognition thereof direct that the gavel wielded by her be suitably inscribed and presented to her and be it further resolved that on this the 21st day of december of the year 2020 a copy of this resolution be spread upon the records of the city council and the special copy be signed by each member of the council and presented to president Grigoraitis retiring president of the melrose city council
