Joining me are voting members, counselor Karen Chetty, counselor Williams and Counselor Remodel, um, as well as Member Exofficio, president Elli and non-voting members. Counselor Jamal and, uh, counselor Occhio. This provides a notice of Quorum for the record in accordance with the open Meeting law.
▶ 17:36 Kimberly Vandiver: This meeting is being recorded and broadcast on our local cable access channel MTV. It will be available for future viewing through the City of Melrose's website@cityofmelrose.org. The public comment portion of the meeting is where any member of the public may speak to items on the agenda at this time, if there are no objections and with the unanimous consent, I'll open the public comment portion of our meeting. Seeing no objections, we are now in public comment. Is there anyone here to speak regarding the items on our agenda tonight? Mr. Clark? Is anyone online? Uh, There's no online at this time. Excuse me. Uh, in that case, if there are no objections and with unanimous consent, I will now close the public comment portion of our meeting.
▶ 18:21 Kimberly Vandiver: Public comment is now closed. Uh, tonight we have two orders before us. The first order is, uh, appointment 2024 dash 16 reappointment of Assistant City Clerk for a one year term, said term ending on March 1st, 2025. Uh, uh, with unanimous consent and no objections. Um, I will suspend the rules so that we can hear, um, from Clerk Foot. The rules are now suspended. Uh, Madam Clerk, will you please, uh, present this order to us? Sure. Thank you so much for having me. I always am delighted to highlight, uh, my staff. As you saw from the attachments, this is an annual requirement of the City charter. It is section one, uh, I'm sorry, article one section 56 10. It's an annual appointment. It is up every year in March.
▶ 19:20 It's required by charter. Um, Mrs. Pipe is amazing. I'm sure some of you have seen her worked with her organized. She is right hand, she's a backup to the city clerk. I cannot more highly recommend a talented and dedicated employee to the city. And I'm open to any questions. Would anybody like to ask a question or discuss Councilor Williams? I'd Make a motion to recommend this to the full board for passage. Second. Okay. We have a motion to recommend by Councilor Williams and a second by Councilor Karen Chetty. Um, all, uh, all in favor? Aye. Aye. All opposed? Uh, this order will go to the full City Council with a recommendation of passage. Uh, our next, uh, order before us is, uh, transfer 2024 dash one, uh, transfer in the amount
▶ 20:27 of $3,200 from salary and wages to equipment maintenance. Um, we are still under suspension of the rules. Um, Madam Clerk, will you, uh, present this order to us? Sure. Um, thank you. So the pole pad equipment have a small printer. They were purchased in 2020. They're four years old, obviously, and at that time, the only existing technology were round rolls of 500 stickers. They're extremely expensive. The technology has changed so that now they're round rolls of paper receipts. And we will have a cost savings of $26 per roll. Still 500. But, um, the vendor has given us a buyback portion, so we will be able to buy if it's a, if it's approved by council, new poll pad printers for some of them.
▶ 21:19 And we're gonna keep a few just for in person early voting when someone shows up in person when you put that actual sticker on. Um, yeah, I open to questions. Okay. Councilor Ryan, um, I just, this is perhaps too in the weeds, but out of curiosity, is there any comparative advantage to one of the other or any, uh, difference in implementation on great question models, so to Speak? Yeah, great question. It's the exact same size technology. The Pul pad accepts the information and spits the receipt out almost like a cash register and it just rolls into itself. So it doesn't, it doesn't affect the processing. It's completely as efficient as either. Cool. Just a cost savings. Also, I did wanna mention that the transfer is requested.
▶ 22:03 Kimberly Vandiver: The money has already been appropriated last year. It's just a transfer because our, um, elections administrator wasn't hired to hired until April of last year. So we have salary and wages dollars left over. So it's a great way to use something that's already been appropriated. Great. Uh, seeing no other, um, comments. Um, what is the will of the committee? I'd like to make a motion to recommend Second. Uh, okay. We have a motion to recommend by Councilor Remodel, and a second by Councilor Karen Chetty. This order will go to the full city Council with a recommendation of passage. Um, at this time, we've concluded our business, the chair will entertain a motion to adjourn. So Moved. Hold on.
▶ 22:44 Kimberly Vandiver: Oh, excuse me. Go ahead. Sorry. Point of order. We need to take a vote on that order, um, Before it passes. Oh, yes. Excuse me. Uh, uh, all in favor? Call. Roll call. Roll Call. Oh, roll call. Okay. Go ahead. Councilor Chetty? Yes. Councilor Williams? Yes. Um, councilor Romanul? Yes. President Elli? Yes. And Chair Van Devin? Yes. Uh, that is five. Yes. Unanimous. Excellent. And now that, uh, order will go to the Full City Council with a recommendation of passage. Um, at this time, we have concluded our business. The chair will entertain a motion to adjourn. Thank you very much. So moved. Second. Okay. Uh, motion to adjourn by Councilor Williams and a second by Councilor Karen Chetty. We are, uh, on discussion.
