This is the public service committee of the city of city council pursuant to governor. makers March 12, 2020 orders suspending certain provisions of the open meeting law, general laws chapter 30A, section 18. In the governor's March 15, 2020 order imposing strict limitations on the number of people that we gather in 1 place. This meeting of the public service committee will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. We will post an audio or video recording. His 1st semester on campus, he is, he was. at umass melrose in the fall semester and we are delighted to uh he uh ran away from the car so i'm
▶ 1:06:23 Paul Brodeur: not sure that's a commentary on her parenting skills or anything like that but uh all all is well in amherst um and i want to thank um mr jen cadis for stepping forward to volunteer for the conservation commission uh i commend to you his his resume you if you take a quick look at you You will see he is literally built for this job by education, by temperament, by experience. This is the work he does for a living and we would be extremely well served to welcome him aboard the Conservation Commission. So I give him my enthusiastic support and nomination and look forward to hearing his comments and to your quick consideration. Thank you. Thank you. Mr. mayor. ▶ 1:07:26 Thanks very much for that introduction. Just a little bit more about myself. I've lived in Nora since 2003 have a son and daughter at the high school in the middle school. So, when this opportunity presented itself, as Mayor Berger mentioned, as part of my work as an environmental engineer, I've appeared before conservation commissions in several other cities and towns in Massachusetts as part of my work. So I'm familiar with the scope of work that they do and I thought that would be a good fit with the opening. So I decided to volunteer. So, look forward to getting more involved with the, with the, the, the goings on. That's the conservation question Melrose. Right? Thank you very much. Mr. and we do appreciate your stepping forward and volunteering for the conservation commission.

Mr chairman, the next candidate for the commission is, uh, I got to know his given professionally.
▶ 1:10:57 Paul Brodeur: Her work in environmental and energy advocacy when I was with the legislature and she was with a group called Green Power. She will fill you in on that. I don't remember the exact name. An incredible eye to detail, an incredible fluency with issues related to energy and environment. Another member of, another person from Melrose affiliated with Tufts University, it seems every other person that we know of in Melrose that steps up the service in some way, affiliated with Tufts. I know you all have had a chance to review, excuse me, her resume. I would want to point out that something that might have slipped by is that Ms. Gibbons was named a Rockstar Mom by Clean Water Action, which is an environmental advocacy group.
▶ 1:12:00 Paul Brodeur: I think it's fair to say part of her commitment to doing this work is to make sure that folks are engaged to get a bigger picture around why these policies and procedures and protections that are built into Massachusetts law are followed, that there's good reasons for them. I can't recommend her strongly enough. Again, I welcome your questions after hearing from her a bit. Thank you. Thank you Mr. Mayor. Ms. Gibbons, can you hear me? I can. Can you hear me? Yes, yes. I'm pretty familiar with a number of you and have had the pleasure to work together and interact in the city together. Like Mr. Jankaitis, I have encountered and worked with conservation commissions throughout my professional career, although in a different capacity, I imagine, than Mr. Gencatus. So we certainly will bring different but complementary perspectives to the table. And I just thank you, Mr. Mayor, and thank the committee for considering the nomination and the appointment. And if selected, if Appointment, I will do my very best to fill the very big shoes being left behind by Ms. Murphy, who served for 18 years. So thank you. And I hope you all have

So Eugenia is a fellow Jumbo, UEP program Jumbo, so I can attest to her educational background in this area along with her professional experience. I'm excited that Jay Webb has stepped up to

Mr. Webb is a Melrose High graduate, understands the history and importance of the building, and he's also a tremendously accomplished executive. He has been for almost 10 years now, the president of his own recruiting and marketing company, and he brings a separate dimension that really will complement the other skills that are represented by the Board of Trustees. And also just like to thank who is not present, but Lou Izzi, who is obviously a resident of Melrose and my attorney, frankly, for all things real estate, for recommending me to Mayor Broder. And also to Kathy for just sharing some more information with me about the workings of the committee and the importance of Memorial Hall. So more about me, I was born and raised in Melrose. I was actually talking to one of my oldest friends last night and we were laughing that I've never moved a mile from the place where I was born, which is less than a mile from where I'm sitting right now at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. And I've always said that I was lucky enough
▶ 1:19:26 be born in milrose and i'm smart enough not to leave um one of the reasons is just as i'm seeing some faces here that i uh frankly grew up with i think there's five faces right here mr Garipay mr sanella mr thomas and uh mr mcnaught and am i missing somebody i don't think so so uh you know that's always comforting and i have my wife uh here now with me that she came from new jersey to to stay here and go to life with me and now have my two uh kids uh jalen and jada going through elementary school right now they're five and seven respectively and i'm just excited to um you know to pitch in where i can and really be a part more a part of a community um my aunt my late great aunt who um essentially is the reason why my family came to melrose to begin with uh was a
▶ 1:20:18 an active um i'd say participant or patron uh of memorial hall as she would go and watch noro symphony uh every year my wife started taking my daughter to the um nutcracker um every year and also just as a family we've gone several times uh over the last years and i hadn't you know like i said i was born and raised here and hadn't uh even gone into the hall until i started having a family and started really appreciating um you know what it meant and then learning more about it through maya broder and some of the other folks uh recently um humbled and honored to um to perhaps uh become a board member uh thank you mr webb you are a very welcome addition to the memorial hall board of trustees i'm sure um and as the mayor said i have
▶ 1:21:13 John N. Tramontozzi: My family and I have fond memories of many performances at Memorial Hall, and we do treasure it. It's a wonderful building, and I know well that you know being a long-term resident and living in Melrose, how important Memorial Hall is to the city. We definitely appreciate your volunteer service, to uh to the city uh we do have a copy of your resume as part of the um our package and uh but i will ask any member of the committee or the council for that matter if you have any questions i see uh uh counselor uh thomas with his hand raised first i'll let him go and then counselor garrett thereafter thank you mr chair uh mr webb welcome uh mayor broderick welcome as well um mr webb as um as did mr jacantis and miss gibbons uh before him uh their resumes are
