Wright Jr.: this evening mr president order 2018-41 in order amending melrose revised ordinances chapter 177 peace and good order section 177-2 was set forth here in that matter is Cronin out of committee with a recommendation and i would ask to be placed on file second the motion to remove the order from committee there's been a motion made by alderman wright to place the order on file of two zero one eight dash four one has been seconded i'm pretty worried you have to take it out of committee first oh i apologize the order needs to come from committee um so the motion needs to be withdrawn uh by um alderman mortimer and alderman wright and a motion made for that to be my motion was to remove the order i apologize all right so the motion is to remove the order from committee uh

Zwirko: talked about this I will just say personally that I do think that the process that we went through in the winter was a good one you know it's as Alderman Wright said it's how the sausage got made it got made very publicly and it was it was actually you know in hindsight it was actually kind of fun so you know I hope that this passes because I think that it just makes simple sense but if it doesn't that's okay but you know I appreciate the opportunity after a little bit of a three and a half week dormancy that we uh had some very good fulsome debate here so i appreciate everyone providing that this evening with that i think this is going to be a close vote i i would request that this is a roll call so given the debate that

Zwirko: motion for passage as amended fails we should reconsideration oh I take that back yeah you know you don't want it to fail the motion fails at this time we move to section 7 which is reports rule 53 earlier this evening in the sub committee all the other the appropriations subcommittee alderman lemmerman presented on the public safety complex just because we are before the full board I would ask that you once again restate what you said stated earlier yes thank you I'm happy to the the mayor's advisory committee on public safety buildings did meet in June of I'm sorry on June 20th this summer and we received an update from the director of DPW as well as the city solicitor on the status of both the feasibility study itself which is ongoing with both the

Lemmerman: firm that was contracted to do this work and look at each of the buildings as well as the discussions with the three public safety unions those discussions continue so the creation of the feasibility study is ongoing as well the committee will continue to do its work and hopes to have something that can be brought both before this board as well as the public in the very near future and I will continue to update the board as my in my role in this capacity through all 53 as we move forward thank you thank you Alderman Lemmerman any other members of the Board of Aldermen that serve on some sort of a committee or commission that they'd like to report out at this time Alderman Letter Garabedian sure just a quick update from the school committee which met at the

▶ 1:05:24 Kate Lipper-Garabedian: end of June on the 26th the the district is has entered into an MOU with the Teamsters for administrators secretaries and paraprofessional and the anticipation is that there's a 2% salary increase over each of the next three years plus some base salary adjustments at the time of the school committee meeting there was an ongoing search committee for two elementary school principals at the end of this year two principals took two positions in a different in other districts actually three did the middle school principal as well I do know that all the three positions are now filled one with an interim I believe principal the middle school and then there have been two outside hires for the Lincoln and Winthrop elementary schools and at the

▶ 1:06:10 Kate Lipper-Garabedian: June 26th meeting there was an update on projected enrollment so for the past school year there were three thousand nine hundred and eighteen students enrolled in the district and the projection is for that to increase by a full 100 students so that on August 29th where a point of personal privilege Harrison will start kindergarten there will be four thousand and eighteen students in the district thank you thank you open in the burger obedient any other members I myself serve on a committee it's the Memorial Hall committee so I'll just give a quick update myself we met on June 20th at that time the committee came together and essentially it was led by John Chenna who stated that over the summer we're gonna put forward an RFP to look

Zwirko: at what type of work can be done to improve Memorial Hall specific to a lot of repointing and some roof repairs we're also going to look at repairs hopefully to GAR room and really just try to get a list and a master plan together as to what the needs are for the facility there's also been a newly I don't know if it's fully public yet but there's a new newly formed no excuse me Melrose friends of the Melrose Memorial Hall that group is going to be essentially like a fundraising arm benefactors to the Memorial Hall so more to come we are going to reconvene in September at which time we should have the final RFP out and hopefully to get our bids and solicitations returned to us I will also keep us apprised of how that moves along seeing no other members
