We are joined this evening by Committee members, Ward 1 Alderman John Tramontozzi, Ward 7 Alderman scott forbes ward 6 alderman peter mortimer an ex-officio member of the president board of alderman donald khan we also have non-voting members of the committee joining us tonight they are alderman at large mary beth mcature margolis alderman at large monica medeiros ward 2 alderman jennifer lemmerman ward 4 alderman robert boizel and ward 5 alderman gail inferna this meeting is being recorded as well as being broadcast live on mmtv and copies of the meeting are available for viewing from the city's website as well as mmtv's website as well

Said term to end on the last day of February 2018. Ms. Mercier will fill the unexpired term of Mary Edwards. Motion to suspend the rules, Mr. Chairman. Second. A motion to suspend the rules has been offered by Alderman Mortimer, seconded by Alderman Scott Forbes. On the motion to suspend the rules, all in favor? Aye. Any opposed? We are under suspension. Ms. Mercier, would you like to come before us this evening and address the committee? sure any statement you'd like to make please um not really an explicit statement except to say that I've lived in Melrose for just about 20 years and
▶ 1:27:13 have kind of poked around the edges trying to figure out where I might make the most impact I've flirted a little bit with some of the volunteer work at the schools I've played around a little with the friends of the library and rewrote their most recent set of bylaws but I hadn't really found just the right place to make a contribution that spoke directly to me and so when a position opened up in the Board of Trustees at the library I saw my opportunity to both complement the work that I already do at Simmons as a professor of children's literature where I belong to lots of children's book award committees and to the American Library Association and to bring a unique expertise in connection

▶ 1:28:41 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: see on her resume with her expertise in her library and and her college that she'll be a great addition on the trustees at the library thank you we thank you all the inferno alderman MacMaster Margolis please thank you I just wanted to say welcome and thank you I'm so glad you found your niche you're highly credentialed and very highly regarded in the field I work at Winchester library so your work is definitely well known and we're so fortunate to have you willing to volunteer and step up especially as we're considering a building project perhaps at the library and I'm on the building committee so I'll look forward to working with you on that and it'll be really exciting to have your perspective on I'm sure for all the trustees but you
