First on our agenda tonight is appropriation 2024 dash seven and appropriation from ambulance retained earnings in the amount of $7,416 and 83 cents. Um, we were supposed to have Chief Gini here with us tonight, but he's out sick. Um, what is the will of the committee? I'll make a motion to recommend for the full board. Next up is Grant 2024 dash one Acceptance of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Recycling Dividend Program Grant in the amount of $16,900. Tonight we have Allison Ueler, an Environmental Outreach Coordinator, um, of the D P W and Jim Troop, the deputy director here with us tonight. Thank you both.

Uh, in front of you tonight for consideration is the acceptance of the, uh, Massachusetts d e P grant, which is a tremendous subsidy to our solid waste and recycling efforts. It is 100% attributed to the efforts of Ms. Ler. Uh, we are, uh, very enthused and excited that she has put forth the effort and has this in front of you for consideration. So I will turn this over to Allison. Thank you. Thank you. Um, so we are proud to announce that we have been awarded $16,900 under the Recycling Dividends Program grant, um, which is a, um, grant underneath the Sustainable Materials, um, recovery Program that is offered by the Massachusetts Department of, uh,
▶ 12:00 environmental Protection. This year, the Healy Driscoll administration awarded $5.2 million to municipalities throughout the state. Um, again, Melrose has received 16,900, which is a $1,300 increase from last year. We were able to, um, be awarded an extra point this year in the, uh, section of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Um, and grant funding is used to supplement, um, ongoing recycling programs that we have throughout the city. Um, during this past year, um, we have implemented programs such as, um, organics Diversion in the High School, um, which has been a very successful program, um, that was hosted by high school students during last school year. And we're looking to expand upon that for this year. Um,
▶ 12:49 and also offering composting bins for backyards, um, for our residences. Um, and we are looking to, again, expand upon current programs, um, and using this grant money would, uh, greatly benefit that. So, uh, thank you. Thank you. Questions Councillor Williams.
