I'm counselor Stewart the chair of Public Service joining me our vice chair Obremski and voting member Eccles Council eckards in that gives us. enough for a quorum in accordance with the open meeting a lot. This meeting is being recorded and broadcast on our local cable access Channel mmtv, as well as live streamed through mmtv3.org. It'll be available for future viewing through the city of melrose's website meeting portal as well. At this point without objection, I will open for public comment. I will close public comment. we have two items on our agenda this evening the first order Is order 22-151 the appointment of forest Tiedeman 50 Orr Street to the Melrose Conservation Commission as an associate member for one year term and at this point without objection, I will motion to suspend the rules. We have several appointments that I know you'll be considering this evening. The first of which is Mr. Tiedeman who has stepped forward to offer his services on our Conservation
▶ 1:54 Paul Brodeur: Commission. I know you all know for the Public's edification primary job of the commission is to enforce the Massachusetts. That's Wetland to protection act essentially a stewardship in Environmental Protection concern. If you've had a chance to look at Forrest resume, you'll see an outstanding set of qualifications. They're quite frankly with service. Well on several boards, but this is someone with an MBA and a and a JD he has done some such Interesting and complicated work. I will come I will admit in in his professional capacity. It's beyond me some of The stuff it's just taxes. That's all but for someone who's moved into the highlands in the in the 90s and my old stomping ground where I first grew up

Well, and I Offered him for your consideration and serve you like to say a few words. Sure. Thank you. All right, so my name is off Force Tiedeman and I am a long-term resident of the city of Melrose. I moved here with my wife in three small children in 1994 to 50 Aura Street in Melrose Highlands, you know as the mayor said just run the corner from where he grew up we've lived there ever since and I'm looking to serve my community as an advocate for our natural resources and for the protection of our Watershed and I've had a long interest in conservation environmentalism, you know one activity they
▶ 3:38 have here in the city of Melrose as I'm part of the Alpine Improvement Council. So if you ever come on a Saturday once a year in May, I'm the guy in waiters that's out in the pond, you know, pulling things like shopping carts out of the water. And so I've you know, I have a lot of interest in this area and I've I belong to you know, quite a few nonprofit organizations that I do some volunteering for but nothing near near as intense as being like like a board member, you know of any of those other organizations so, you know because of this background, you know that my desire and really like to be appointed as a board member of the Conservation Commission, I think can bring a lot to the table with this is the mayor said I am an attorney.
▶ 4:17 I'm licensed here in the Commonwealth and Massachusetts. I graduate from Suffolk law school and I focus my career in in the tax field because It's very complex and very challenging and you can't get bored because the rules change every year. So I guess that might go well with Conservation Area too because there's you know, many things that are going on in the area and it's very complex and it's there's a lot of things. I don't know much about I've been to two of the meeting so far and I found it very interesting just, you know, hearing and listening to them, you know, Mike talk about the different things going on like when they're looking to do the repave mean at the Melrose towers for example, and what
▶ 4:53 they had to do with looking at that the drainage and everything and since I'm not an engineer, it was fascinating to me that you know, like I learned so much and like 10 minutes, but but anyway, I'm really interested. And so I think I could bring a lot to the table and really help the commission do their Duty. So I I hope that you'll respond and approve my appointment. Does anyone have any questions? What's your favorite like conservation land to spend time in in Melrose? Well, it depends what state you're in, you know here in Massachusetts. I'd love to spend you know,

But I'm also you know, I'm originally from the Midwest so I have some favorite spots out in Wisconsin and Michigan where I grew up to which you know, like I'll Royal national park for example, and In Devil's devils devils Lake State Park in Wisconsin. Have you ever been to those? They're beautiful places? Well, then you should have it on your to-do list put it on your bucket list to go to those places. Absolutely.
