Every member of the Board of Aldermen is a member of this committee. It's a committee of the whole. Before we proceed with that, please let me inform Member of the public here that most of you are here on an order and a public hearing that we'll be having at the full board meeting, probably in just a few minutes. In appropriations tonight, we are having an order that is probably best described as a matter of housekeeping. We have completed a contract with the police labor union, and we are just finding a way to fund it.

This is only if you wish to speak about the contract with the police and how it will be funded. Robert Van Campen will inform us of what we need to know Thank You mr. chairman Member of the committee thank you as you had mentioned this is really a housekeeping measure but didn't want to come before the committee this evening by way of an update so proud to announce
▶ 3:21 that we have reached agreement with the Melrose police patrol officers association working with president Rob Mann we were able to come to an agreement that we believe is fair and equitable both for the Member of the Union and the taxpayers of Melrose the order this evening is to appropriate funds sufficient to fund years one and two of the contract this contract will expire on June 30th 2018 so a year from this June it maintains our historic cola pattern of 1% invests in our law enforcement professionals in other areas including stipends begins the process of moving the department in direction of being coming fully accredited so the contracts fair and equitable and I ask for your support in passing the order this evening Thank You mr. van Kampen
