CITY OF MELROSE PROTECTION AND LICENSE COMMITTEE CALENDAR● FEBRUARY 21, 2017 Aldermanic Chamber, Melrose City Hall Committee Meeting 7:40 PM 562 Main Street, Melrose, MA 02176 The public should take notice that the Melrose Board of Aldermen may, on certain occasions, have a quorum in attendance due to standing committees of the Board of Aldermen consisting of both voting and non-voting members. Members attending this duly posted meeting are participating and deliberating only in conjunction with the business of the standing committee. In accordance with the Massachusetts General Law, this meeting also will be televised and taped for further viewing on the city website or MMTV. Do we have a motion to open the floor for public participation? So moved. Second. Alderman Inferno moves, seconded by Alderman Boisselle. Is there anyone in the audience who would like to come forward this evening to speak on our orders? Seeing none, Madam Chairman, motion to close public participation. Second. ▶ 5:15 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: All in favor? Aye. Public participation is closed. We have several orders with us this evening regarding the renewal and non-renewal of licenses. The first order is ordered to- Madam Chairman? Yes. Would you recognize the motion to take all the orders concurrently since I don't have to well at least maybe orders number nine two and nine three certainly we have a motion to a second concurrently consider order two zero one seven dash nine two and two zero one seven dash nine three those are the common virtual licenses do we have a second on that second all members all seconds all in favor aye opposed we will consider those orders concurrently the first part is the licenses that have been renewed
▶ 6:01 commencing January 1st Alderman President Kahn yeah just for people who are watching us at home this evening what we're doing is we're not voting to approve or disapprove any licenses these are people a one category is licensees who've met all of the licensing requirements to renew their licenses have filed all their papers with the city clerk and basically as a matter of of record-keeping we are putting these on file so that they become a part of the records of the Board of Aldermen and then there are various licenses which for a variety of reasons were not renewed and we are going to make them a part of the records of the Board of Aldermen to acknowledge that those licenses are not not being renewed at this time we will be doing the same
▶ 6:48 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: thing with second-class motor vehicle licenses so for anybody who can't understand what we're doing that's the purpose of this exercise tonight is basically to put these licenses amongst the records the permanent records of the Board of Aldermen Thank You president Kahn is there anyone else so we have approximately 45 licenses that have been renewed and three that were not renewed because they that went out of business or they are no longer but they were sold and they all meet the criteria as alderman president khan has indicated do we have a motion to place these on file so moved second all in favor aye okay those two orders of renewal and non renewal will both be placed on file the next alderman in front of did you want us to consider those concurrently as
▶ 7:38 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: well thank you very much madam chairman yes so second on that second all in favor aye opposed we will take order two zero one seven dash nine three and nine four concurrently again those are licenses that are renewed and not renewed for the class two motor vehicles for the year commencing 2017 one point of information not a member of the committee but I think it's nine four and nine five madam chair I'm sorry yes you are correct nine four and nine five motion to place on file second Alderman Inferno moves seconded by Alderman Wiesel to place those orders on file all in favor aye opposed those orders will also be placed in file and those licenses will be dealt with accordingly and we have a motion to adjourn second Alderman Inferno moves to adjourn
