It's the acceptance of an FY15 Emergency Management Performance Grant in the amount of $6,460, fund number 2467.

Opposed? we have the chief leary with us this evening to speak on this order chief would you like to come forward and just go over your memo please good evening thank you for joining us so this is regarding the uh fy 15 emergency management performance grant the total amount is 6460 and this will allow the fight department to upgrade our radio system to to attach to the current fiber lines that are there now and stop leasing lines from Verizon. This will increase our performance. We've had some issues with poor reception and having to go to our backup radio. And in addition, all the receiver sites for police and fire will be fine tuned for optimal performance.

I see Alderman Inferno from the committee has a question. you very much good evening chief um this six thousand plus um money for the it's a grant will any other funds be needed um out of the no the match is the emergency management um fund the emergency management um salaries in on budget so the the work will be done for the six thousand four hundred something and it's um okay very good thank you motion to recommend second And we have a motion to recommend, seconded by Alderman Rozelle, seconded by Alderman Lemmerman. I do have, if the committee will indulge me, one question. Chief, is the fire department paying for access through Verizon? Will this save you any money? Yeah, that's handled through IT, and there will be a monthly savings that we won't be paying for the lines anymore.

We appreciate, again, you stepping up to this. This is another board that serves with a lot of responsibility and a huge time commitment. And we see we have your resume here. It looks pretty impressive also. And I thought maybe you might be able to speak to it just for the public. Certainly. So I'm actually a Melrose native and went to Moro's high school but then I went to college Notre Dame and started my career as a environmental planner and scientist where I worked for about ten years mostly projects in Massachusetts went to get a law degree
▶ 14:44 at Suffolk at night and been working as a real estate and land use attorney for past eight years or so most of my work is in the planning field land use zoning field so i thought the planning board might be a good fit for my background a lot of my projects are based in massachusetts eastern part of massachusetts in particular but through a couple of my roles i've got experience working in doing zoning and land use work in almost every state in the country so that's been a nice way to get some experience outside of massachusetts scheme of doing things so i'm pretty familiar with i've been involved with the highlands redevelopment effort helped out with one of the committees there i've met with denise on a couple of occasions as they
