Boisselle: Call to order of the Health, Education, and Welfare Committee in the Aldermanic Chamber on August 24, 2015 at 7.30 p.m. This Aldermanic Chamber is being televised this evening on MMTV, and it will be on the Comcast and Verizon networks. The committee is composed of the Chair, Alderman Boisselle, Vice Chair, Alderman Lemmerman, Alderman Medeiros, Alderman Inferna, Alderman McAteer-Margolis, and Alderman Kahn, the President of the Board. Robinson of 50 Clifford Street to the Melrose Library Board of Trustees for a three year term and said term to expire on the last day of February 2017. Mr. Robinson, would you please come forward? ▶ 1:37 Mr. Robinson, would you like to say a few words? happy to happy to do it of course it's an honor to be asked so I'm excited about it happy to do it very good any member of the board which Alderman Thank You mr. chairman thank you very much for coming down tonight and for volunteering in this way for the city would you mind just telling us a little bit about yourself sure yeah my name is Mark Robinson I was born and raised in Melrose and I'm a third generation funeral director at Robinson funeral home on Main Street, and I happen to know Ed Waystack. He's a family friend who's the chairman, the president of the board. So he asked me to, if I would consider being on the Board of Trustees of the Melrose Public Library.

You are, in addition to being an upstanding Rotarian, of course, of the Melrose Rotary Club, you are a Ward 2 resident. so that speaks well of you. Big question, do you have a Melrose Public Library card? Not currently, but I will soon. I'm not sure I can approve this. You will, I'm sure. Correct. Great, and I know you'll do a great job. Thank you for coming forward. Absolutely. Any other questions? Mr. Robinson will be replacing Rosemary McIntyre, whose term expired on the last day of February 2014. Motion for the floor? Next item on the agenda is Order 2016-23, the appointment of Christopher J. Cherry of 158 Howard Street to the Historical Commission for a three-year term, the said term to expire on the last day of February 2018. Mr. Cherry, would you like to say a few words? Sure. Again, my name is Chris Chury. I have been serving as an associate member of the Melrose Historical Commission for the last two years. I'm very intimately involved in all of the current ongoings. And as well, I started on the commission as I'm a registered architect in Massachusetts, and I also work as a construction manager. So I think my background

Lemmerman: my interest and my desire to get involved in the community made them about the Historical Commission a natural choice for me so I've really enjoyed being a part of the Commission and I like to continue to do so any questions thank you just wanted to also thank you very much for your your volunteering for the city in this way it's second Ward two resident in the evening so it's great to see Ward two residents coming down and it seems like you have some great skills and background to add so just wanted to thank you thank you thank you any other questions for the board all right mr. cherry we will be replacing Jose Roger whose term expired on the last day of February 2015 you have a motion motion to recommend motion to recommend second

Quigley I mean she's been very active in Melrose I know firsthand her compassion and her well-keeping that she has for our most vulnerable residents here in Melrose so I would like to just send this forward with the motion to recommend okay yes thank you although I'm a non voting member of this committee I know miss Quigley personally and I have been in

Tramontozzi: contact with her I know she was on vacation last week but and may have been busy at work since her return she is a ward 1 resident well qualified for the position as a registered nurse herself dealing with the elderly and I know know she'd be a wonderful service to the city and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to see her appointed to the council on aging and again I respectfully request maybe this committee can move it forward thank you I concur wholeheartedly wholeheartedly with the comments made by the previous two speakers, my fellow aldermen. Of course, Martha Quigley is a wonderful woman, and I'm not a member of this committee. But just a thought, if you think it's worth the trouble,

Since we're all here for other meetings tonight, it might not be too much trouble to reconvene, but we will have to reconvene and adjourn later if she doesn't show up at all.
