CITY OF MELROSE FINANCE COMMITTEE CALENDAR● AUGUST 24, 2015 Aldermanic Chamber Committee Meeting 7:45 PM The public should take notice that the Melrose Board of Aldermen may, on certain occasions, have a quorum in attendance due to standing committees of the Board of Aldermen consisting of both voting and non-voting members. This is a portion of our meeting where anybody from the general public may approach the table and speak on behalf of the two agenda items we have before us. Seeing that there's nobody from the general public here, I have to entertain a motion to close. Second. Alderman Byrd. Seconded by Alderman Mortimer. All those in favor? Aye. Any opposed? public participation portion of our meeting is now ended. We have two orders before us tonight. The first is order number 2016-19,

Chief Leary could not be here tonight, but he did write something that is in all of our packets. I'm gonna read that for the public that's watching tonight. says fire alarm system upgrade donation wood partners the company that has built several apartment buildings on washington street has donated ten thousand five hundred dollars to upgrade circuit seven of the fire alarm system this area encompasses the apartments that they have built as well as the lincoln and bb school cefalo apartments 101 cottage 200 west foster parts of wyoming ave and pleasant street i ask that the board accept the donation chief leary

An appropriation of $20,000 from library fines, account number 29032-590000 to library expenses, Books and Periodicals, account number 016112-534200. Motion to suspend the rules that we may hear from the Director of the Library, Linda Walsh, excuse me, Linda Gardner, who's here with us. Second. And a motion to suspend the rules by Alderman Mortimer, seconded by Alderman Byrd. All those in favor? Aye. Motion that the rules are now suspended.

Good, can you briefly just explain the order that we have before us? this is an order that comes before you every year by the ordinances of Melrose we are allowed to use fine money that we bring into the library and transfer it into our books and periodicals account and that transfer each year helps us to meet the requirement by the state for municipal appropriation to remain certified by the state anybody from committee have any questions to miss Gardner. Motion to recommend for passage. Second. Motion to recommend by Alderman Mortimer. Seconded by Alderman Berg. All those in favor? Aye. Any opposed?
