This is occurring at 7-15 on May 7th and this will be televised on Channel 3 and also on Channel 22, depending on the Verizon or Comcast. all right the voting members of the committee is the chair Alderman Boisselle vice-chairs Alderman Lemmerman voting is Alderman Medeiros Alderman Inferna Alderman McAteer-Margolis and the president Donald Kahn non-voting members here this evening is basically Peter Mortimer and at this point do I have a suggestion or motion for public participation and second all those in favor okay anyone in the audience wishes to come forward please come forward at this time to discuss anything on our agenda this evening see

Boisselle: you none motion to close public participation okay motion to close public participation all those in favor okay moving on we have a order this evening order 21 5-1 37 request to increase the spending limit on the counseling of aging donation revolving account number two eight one one for fiscal year 2015 motion to suspend the rules have a motion to spend the rules is there a second second all right all those in favor all right and we have the director of the council on aging would you please come forward on hi hi would you like to discuss what we're doing here this evening I do want to I would like to if it's okay can I pass these while I'm talking go right ahead miss now while you're talking yeah okay so what I'm passing around is the
▶ 2:04 newsletter for May and I wanted to let you know that the reason I'm asking for this increase this is for the current fiscal year thank you this is for the current fiscal year and I'm asking for the permission to spend five thousand dollars more of the revolving account and the reason I'm asking for it is the newsletter I just gave you under programs it will show that the kind of programs that we have been offering are changing and they're very popular and so if you look down the left side there are art courses and creative writing photography and Reiki and these are courses that are series or you know several at one time so what's happened with the revolving account is people are making payments to go to these courses and then I am paying the invoices for
▶ 3:10 instructors so it's an even it's even but it also need means that in order to do this kind of programming I need the cap lifted a little bit actually a lot so I can so I can tell you that so a good deal of this account is used for part to have participant fees come out and pay instructors other things this account is used for include like miscellaneous items like program supplies would be the internet cost we have a public internet cost that we pay we have like New York Times subscription for our current events class there's some carpet cleaning and upholstery and repairs little bit of equipment repairs and also like a tremendous amount of paper products and office products and refreshments and so it's all miscellaneous kinds of things that
▶ 4:18 Gail Infurna: hasn't changed at all those costs were the this account was being used for those costs before it's really the programming part of it that has changed ocean all right yes motion to recommend second motion to recommend and second by Alderman Inferno any any discussion at this point Alderman Inferno thank you um it's not really much of a discussion just to let everybody know that i do spend some time down there at the senior center and it is a very active place people are coming and going so i think the money is put to good use and i think the seniors are getting what they need out of the senior center so job well done and i'm gladly supporting this thank you thank you alvin thank you mr chairman i was just wondering just looking at your numbers that you provided us um looks like you're
▶ 5:10 just under 500 away from your your cap now so far as of april 27th is that right so um so that and that needs to get you through to the end of the fiscal year are you is that are you finding that you're going to have to restrict it all as a result of that um if tonight is not approved if tonight is not approved then the classes that i had planned for um part late part of may and june um i will have to put off until after the fiscal year the this would be i want to have a photography class that um because of how the money kind of washes through this account i wouldn't have and a series um of reiki classes there's a couple of theater performer performances um one in may and one in june so i would just need to put those off you know that would be
▶ 6:06 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: be the difference but yeah so I don't want to do that right okay thank you thank you so um thank you John for all of your hard work I know it is an active busy center and this is a great newsletter you do it in-house um no actually we do with a company that sells sponsorship advertisement on the back pages right yeah so um there's no cost to us we just provide the newsletter and they print it for us so if people wanted to advertise if a local business wanted to advertise they could reach out to you about doing that they could um in the last couple of pages the the phone number is listed also but yes we could definitely great direct and i just wondered if um as a result of of your survey that you did last year did you add classes in response to that
▶ 7:02 or add programs in response to that so are you referring to the 2015 assessment the one that just yes yeah the blue pages yeah so the data has just been finished being entered it has not been analyzed yet okay so that the first step of that I don't know the results yet okay yeah these classes that we've have added are based on like kind of in-house interest surveys great very small scale stuff but um but they've become really popular so it was a good call great well I'm happy to support this and support your efforts down there thank you thank you okay thank you we have a motion to recommend in second all those in favor against motion is carried thank you very much thank you motion to adjourn motion to adjourn and second all those in favor against HW is now
