▶ 0:57 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: like to come forward and speak on these orders this evening motion to close public participation second the first order that we have is order number two zero one five dash nine six it's an application from Sandra Fuller for a common virtual license for seek bakery and cafe Inc doing business as mad cake genius at one herd Street in Melrose miss Fuller would you like to come forward we've received your application and all of the necessary documents and sign offs from the various department heads that are required would you anybody from the committee have any questions for miss Fuller I'm sorry yes this is just a nice opportunity for you to plug your business and to kind of Tell us in Rita's Digest version of what you'll be doing, what you'll be presenting to the merchants in Melrose.
▶ 2:04 Okay, it's going to be a bakery cafe. I'm the mad cake genius, so I do fancy cakes and cupcakes and that sort of thing. And we're planning to have some gourmet coffee, fresh baked bread for our sandwiches, and homemade cakes, homemade soups, and some takeout items. also planning to offer delivery um and some some catering um the catering not where we provide staff but sort of you know for functions that we would just deliver food i'm sorry i'm just going to stop you for a moment because uh people in the hall are kind of drowning you out so you're going to if you want to go back to you said you're going to allow some um you're going to have some delivery available for takeout uh yes um both for cakes and pastries for breakfast and that

Medeiros: sort of thing and also for lunchtime sandwiches will be closed for dinner sunday monday tuesday and wednesday but open a little later for thursday friday saturday and planning to offer dinners I would imagine more for take-out or delivery than for sort of eat-in. Okay. Majerus, did you have a question? Thank you. I just wanted to, we're very glad to have you here. I wish you a lot of success. I just wanted to talk a little bit about the hours in the morning in particular. I see you're starting at 5.30, which definitely makes sense, especially that menu and that location. um but just to point out that we've had in some cases some issues with early morning deliveries and disruption of some residential neighborhoods and so we just want to make sure that you know

Medeiros: you know you're not having any deliveries too early and i wouldn't think so um unless it would be for like a corporate breakfast sort of thing in which case i don't think there should be any issues with neighbors and residents and so forth yeah okay very good so yeah just if you don't keep that in mind if you are going in and out and certainly really appreciate that and we look forward to having you there and i see all kinds of certifications in addition to just the regular requirements we have i we see serve safe and have you done this before no i do have some restaurant experience over the last you know many years before this I actually worked for a software company for 16 years testing computer software and I've also been in

▶ 5:36 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: good luck thank you so much good luck the next order on the agenda is order number two zero one five dash one zero five it's the reappointment of john j higgins jr of 47 malvern street to the position of constable for a three-year term said term to expire on the first monday in march of 2018 and we do have mr higgins with us this evening if you'd like to come forward good evening all good evening so mr higgins would you like to give us a little background you've been doing this for a long time for the city i've been the constable for the last 40 years 40 years i'm probably the only constable in town that actually does the work i i serve the divorce papers i do do the evictions. I shut off your gas and electric if you don't pay the bill.

That's something new in the last few years. Well, we hope you don't have to do too many things. No, Melrose is pretty good. We don't have to do a lot in Melrose. And I see you have generated some funds for the city. We have. Yes. Great. Is there anyone on the committee that has any questions? Or anyone not on the committee? motion to recommend not a member of the committee but I would like to say I've known mr. Higgins a long long time since I was a young man growing up in this city he's he's a good solid guy and he has been a constable for 35 years in the city and as he indirectly alluded to and directly referenced in his opening

Mortimer: comments he does deal with a lot of very sensitive situations in his job as a constable and as far as I know and I know a lot about what happens in this city he's always handled the problem very very smoothly usually without any problems and he's able to accomplish what he needs to do in the course of his job without anyone getting hurt without any of our police officers getting hurt and everyone goes home in one piece which is rule number one for law enforcement officers Thank You mr. Higgins thank you so your documents are all in order and we have a motion on the table made by Alderman Wiesel seconded by Alderman Medeiros all in favor aye opposed that order will be recommended to the full board which is meeting after this and thank you for your many years
