▶ 0:00 In accordance with Rule 48 of the Rules of Order of the Board of Aldermen, a caucus has been called for December 1st, 2014, at 7.30 p.m. to nominate a president of the Board of Aldermen for the year 2015. Eleven members present and being the necessary quorum, the board will proceed to the business of nominating a president of the Board of Aldermen for the year 2015. Nominations.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Madam Chairman, I make a motion to open nominations for the chairperson of the caucus. Second. It's been moved and seconded to open nominations. All those in favor? Aye. Those opposed? The ayes have it, nominations are now open. Madam Chairman, I put in the name of Mary Reader O'Shea for chairperson of the caucus. Under Rule 48, that's no longer necessary. Very good then.

I will then make a motion to open the floor for nominations for the Office of the President of the Board of Aldermen for the upcoming year. We already moved and seconded to open nominations. Now, nominations are now accepted. I put into nomination the name of Alderman Donald Kahn. Second. Are there any further nominations? Motion to close nominations, Madam Chairman. Second. Okay, it's moved and seconded to close nominations. All those in favor? Aye. Those opposed? The ayes have it. Nominations are hereby closed. On the question, the election for nomination is by leave a vote to vote. Each member present answering to his or her name, stating the name of the person for whom he or she votes

Kahn, Jr. has been duly elected in this caucus for nomination as President of the Board of Aldermen for the year 2015. Upon the unanimous vote of the members present, Alderman Donald Alcorn Jr. has been duly nominated by the members of this caucus to be the newly elected president of the Board of Aldermen for the year 2015. In accordance with the rules of order of the Board of Aldermen, the term will become effective upon a formal election of the Board of Aldermen at the organizational meeting in January, at which time there will be a formal election and installation.

I appreciate the honor of, again, being allowed to serve as president of this board. The board of Alderman means a lot to me, the traditions of the board and the running of the board. And I do appreciate this honor. I know that all of us here want to make sure that Melrose continues to become the best community that it can be and I know we will all strive to to achieve that goal in the upcoming year and I look forward to working with you all yet again thank you very much motion to adjourn the second motion for public participation to be in compliance with the open meeting law is there a second
