▶ 2:01 Speaker 10: could you identify yourself please sir good evening my name is matthew hellman i'm a ward 3 resident from lindfell's parkway and i serve on the melrose human rights commission i just wanted to urge the members of the board of aldermen to support the measure tonight before you to incorporate gender identity and gender expression into the municipal non-discrimination code transphobia like homophobia anti-semitism racism sexism is a pernicious form of bigotry in our society while fortunately i'm not aware of any incidents of this nature in our city it is something that occurs across our country and the board of aldermen passing this measure tonight would send a statement to the rest of the commonwealth and the rest of the country that melrose is a welcoming community and that this form of bigotry isn't tolerated here i think it would send a positive statement especially to our young people in the school community where this issue is even more deeply felt and understood as a real part of the their social lives than among older generations so thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak tonight and I encourage you to support the measure thank you thank you
