Joining me tonight, our voting members Vice Chair Stewart, um, councilor Ro a, councilor Reky and President Elli. This meeting of the Protection and Licensing Committee is being recorded live on MTV and will be available online on the city website, www.cityofmelrose.org. At this time, if there are no objections and with the unanimous consent, I will open the public comment portion of our meeting. Seeing no objections, public comment is now open. It is license number 2024 dash 20 application of AB denier Ahed, DBA, glum Dog, Inc. For a Hackney carriage license, one taxi cab at Essex Street Stand. Um, at this time, uh, I would, uh, with no objections, I will suspend the rules so we can hear from the applicant. Seeing no objections, Mr. Ahmed, if you want, would like to come up and sit at this table and just, um,
▶ 1:47 Mark Garipay: tell us a little bit about your business and a couple, uh, counsels may have some questions. Um, for the record, this, um, this applicant has had a license in the past. They, um, missed the renewal process, so they had to go through the new process. So it is a new, new license, but it is kinda like a, a renewal, but, so Go ahead. Yeah. Well, my business, uh, I've been running like for, for a, for a long time, a little bit, you know, up here like Millrose license. So, uh, it's a tech service, you know, I invest, I have a website, uh, I get calls, uh, I got clients and, you know, I got another business also, so I continue. So it, it's a corporation, inky g Inky, so, uh, you know, that's, it's tax service.
▶ 2:39 I mean, people can call me, you know, it's, I've been investing, so that's my business as taxi driver license, having me for Millrose, you know, before COVID-19, we are like 16 taxis. I'm the one only left. I know, but, you know, Uber came and, you know, destroy all the visitors, but, you know, still tax taxi, uh, still they surviving, so who knows? Maybe some, you know, it will, it would go back the old day, the old days. So, uh, yeah. Uh, the only issue, uh, the c asking is, uh, before I used to have a official, uh, licensee like this, so the police, uh, you know, they, they check the criminal court check. After that, the, they give me this license. They used to give us this official license,

So, I don't know, uh, you know, it's usual, like I want it, you know, uh, to see if, you know, it can be, you know, bring this documentation back, uh, to the id, uh, about the renewal. Yeah. Uh, I would like, you know, you know, I'm requesting if I can get like, you know, June or June or June or July, expiration dates, you know, I'm having sometimes tough time. Like, you know, sometimes I go for, for family, uh, you know, uh, travel, you know, uh, you know, so that's why I wasn't available, you know, to renew it, you know? I think it's great because we have, uh, a large elderly segment of the community that lives, um, close by, that can use the transportation from Shaws to their, their homes. And some, some folks choose not to drive.
▶ 5:08 Robb Stewart: So I think it's great. Um, I'm, I'm just more curiosity, um, by Melrose. So I, is this like your only territory, or are you located elsewhere? Uh, Well, yeah. Uh, today technology has changed. Like, you know, you have to advertise. I have a Google advertisement, you know, uh, I got calls, uh, I got people who give me jobs also. You know what I'm saying? Same thing, Melrose, I, I try to get calls, you know what I'm saying? So that's how I get here. That's how I survive. Like, you know, connecting, uh, you know, um, you know, uh, especially like oncologist, you know, all of that. So you have a, a, a good sustained base of, uh, clients, regular clientele that you serve basis Yes. From, yeah, from their party,
