It is 7.48 p.m. and we're here for the organizational meeting of the City Council of Melrose for the year 2021 and I'm the City Clerk, Amy Camosa, and I call this remote meeting to order. Pursuant to Governor Baker's March 12th, 2020 order, suspending certain provisions of the open meeting law and the governor's March 15th, 2020 order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in 1 place. This meeting of the city council will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. We will post an audio or video recording transcript or other comprehensive record of these proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting.

Um, the council will now proceed to the business of electing the president for the year 2021, but a caucus held on December 7th, Christopher was unanimously nominated for the office of president for the city council.

It's an honor and a privilege to be selected by my colleagues to serve as the president of the Monroe City Council for the 2021 term. i will do my best to lead us down a path of open-mindedness collegiality and compromise continuing the work begun by those who served in this role before me in that vein i want to thank

Last, I just want to thank my fellow councillors again for having the faith in me to carry out the duties of president and I look forward to the work that lies ahead thank you so now on to our meeting do we need to have a swearing in or anything like our uh oath um i wasn't going to do it remotely um i can if you'd like that's okay no i wasn't sure okay it feels a little weird to do it remotely but um because you're all already sworn in um from last year we can um we can do it uh in person okay
