Minutes of the Memorial Hall Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, July 18, 2019 The meeting was called to order by Chair Mary Sexton In attendance: Chair Mary Sexton, Trustees Lou Izzi, Mike Margolis and Laura Paladino Chair Mary Sexton opened meeting at 5 pm. Motion: Trustee Izzi motioned to approve the minutes from the June 5, 2019 SSMB Board of Trustees meeting. Seconded by Chair Sexton. All voted in the affirmative. Motion carried Motion: Trustee Izzi motioned to approve the minutes from the June 27, 2019 SSMB Board of Trustees meeting with changes. Seconded by Chair Sexton. All voted in the affirmative. Motion carried Motion: Trustee Izzi motioned to modify the rate in section 2.1, Memorial Hall Rental Rates/Fees and Ancillary Fees of the Memorial Hall Rental Application to revert back to 2018 rehearsal rate of $200. Seconded by Trustee Margolis. All voted in the affirmative. Motion carried Motion: Trustee Izzi motioned to approve the request from Karen Burke, City of Melrose Veterans Service Director, to waive of the 5 hour rental, $700 for entire facility, $300 for GAR Room only, for the Melrose Veterans Dept. FY20 events: Monthly Veterans Mobile Food Mart; Veterans in the Classroom, Veteran’s Day Holiday breakfast; Memorial Day breakfast and parade registration. Seconded by Trustee Paladino. All voted in the affirmative. Motion carried Motion: Trustee Izzi motioned to approve the request from Mayor Infurna to grant a 5 hour rental fee of $700 for an event (Monday – Thursday) or fundraiser (Friday, Saturday or Sunday) to be approved by the school’s principals within the Sept. 2019 – June 2020 school year for the Melrose schools, i.e. Franklin ECC, Hoover, Horace Mann, Lincoln, Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle, Melrose High, Roosevelt, Winthrop and St. Mary’s school. Seconded by Chair Sexton. All voted in the affirmative. Motion carried Public Participation: Stephen Francis, Polymnia Choral Society President and Evan Travis, Friends of Polymnia President, attended meeting to speak regarding the removal of the 20% nonprofit discount which would result in an increase of $300 to Polymnia for their FY20 event. Next Trustees meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 6 pm. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7 pm.
