We are joined by Vice Chair Alderman Lipper-Garabedian, Alderman Boisselle, Alderman Tramontozzi, Alderman McMaster. Non-voting members of the Board of Aldermen present with us this evening are Alderman Medeiros, Alderman Zwirko, Alderman Bewtra, and President Lemmerman. In accordance with the open meeting law, this meeting is being televised on MMTV and is available for future viewing on their website as well as the website of the city of Melrose aldermen's work Oh has made a motion to open the floor for public no not a member of this committee any members of this committee aldermen

▶ 2:59 Gail Infurna: case if you don't know what a shine counselor is it's it's someone who mentors and provides information to our senior citizens or about to become senior citizens about their health insurance so she certainly possesses a great patience and an asset to the Council on Aging just through that she's also currently a volunteer with the Pantry of Hope one of our local food pantries as well as a volunteer at the Melrose Public Library and a trustee at her condominium complex so she certainly has the experience in various environments too that will oversee and involve with senior citizens so not sure if you want to add anything to that Carla no I don't think so she is retired so she has plenty of time to be down the senior center and talking with our

Lemmerman: members down there Thank You mayor Perna and you'd prefer to go directly to questions at this time are there any alderman having questions or comments at this time president Lemmerman please thank you very much mr. chairman no questions just wanted to say thank you very much for using your great background to serve the city in this way we have several wonderful Ward two residents who are dedicating their time to Melrose and great to see another one so we always appreciate it thank you very much thank you for letting me do it it's uh it's great fun thank you thank you president Lemmerman alderman medeiros please thank you thank you very much i just wanted to echo that and say thank you and i was just
▶ 4:47 wondering if you have any um any agenda or any initiatives that you're hoping to bring forward in this role or anything in particular not not really i was approached about this i it wasn't something that i i sought out i had left mystic valley after six years and was kind of looking around for something extra to do. And when I was approached about this a few weeks ago, it seemed to fit all of the background and experience that I had. And I've been to one or two of the meetings. To be honest, I had not researched it ahead of time to know exactly what they do. But it certainly seems like something that I would love to get involved in. I am obviously a member of the group that they serve. I use the Milano Center a lot.
▶ 5:33 And so I would like to be able to bring some of the experience that I've had in both administration and working with seniors, particularly people who are homebound, who don't have ability, either money or mobility, to get out and use the things that we have in Melrose to serve that population. I saw a lot of that with Mystic Valley, so that's kind of where I would be the most interested in working. that's excellent and i i think you do great in that area and i think it's you know something that we need i know it's uh it can be very confusing and daunting to and it's it's amazing how many people are sitting behind those walls that we don't know about um alone and and need services and and sometimes uh not exactly shy is not the right word but um sometimes people

Mortimer: they're too modest to to ask for the help and there's a lot and proud as well you spent your whole life being independent and then suddenly you're for whatever reason in a situation where you can't so we're very lucky to have resources here and we are lucky to have you to help them navigate so thank you thank you thank you alderman medeiros any other alderman wishing to be heard motion to recommend second we have a motion to recommend this order for passage made by Alderman Boisselle, duly seconded by Alderman Tramontozzi.
