This is the Committee on Health, Education, and Welfare. It is 7.30 on April 4th, 2019. I am the Chairman, Peter Mortimer. We are joined by committee members Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Alderman Robert Boycelle, Alderman Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Alderman Robert Boycelle, Alderman John Tramontozzi, Alderman Sean McMaster. We are also joined by non-voting members, Alderman Monica Medeiros, Alderman Michael Zwirko, Alderman Manisha Bewtra, and President of the Board of the Aldermen, Jennifer Lemmerman. We have before us a spate of orders tonight. We only have one new appointment and a scattering of reappointments, so we're going to take the first order, the new appointment first.

Sure. Thank you very much. It's always a pleasure to be back here, especially when it's not for an appointment. So Eileen Lyle is a familiar face around Melrose. She's been a lifelong Melrosean, recently retired. Hard to believe, but recently retired. And she is looking to spend some of that time giving back to her community. Thank you very much, Mayor.

Lyle it's very kind of you to come forward I saw your resume very impressive and your service is appreciated would you like to say one short sentence I would just like to say I have always enjoyed working with the seniors so I'm hoping this is an opportunity where I can give back to the community thank you very much and we greatly appreciate that well I'll take a motion it's it's more direct a motion to recommend for the second by alderman Boycelle on discussion alderman Lippa Garabedian sure just for folks who may be watching at home could either of you see just a little bit to the council on aging and sort of what it's focused on and the kinds of the role it plays in
▶ 8:23 Gail Infurna: the city do you want to go anywhere with it basically it's a committee that it's a council that meets monthly and they discuss how they can benefit our older pop older adults I've learned that's what you call them now not seniors that it's older adults and so they get together see if there's any needs and how the Milano Center, not the senior center, it's called the Milano Center now, can help and assist with the older adults, so. That's great, I mean, I'm pretty aware of it, but it just, it's wonderful to have that center and all the programming, and it's also really great that we have a group of committed individuals like you who are stepping forward to support that effort. It is a great board, and you know,

Zwirko: know uh don philopoulos you know works well with them and closely with them thank you so much thank you very much alderman Letter garabedian we have a motion on the floor to recommend this order for passage but before we proceed with that i see there's another hand alderman's workout please thank you mr chairman i'm not a voting member of this committee i just want to take the time to personally say thank you for stepping up to serve on the council on aging in this role we're always looking for good members of the community to do so and i know that from time to time you You have an older adult that you help as well. I've bumped into you a couple times in Shaw's. So we know that the proof is in the pudding with the service that you do in this area.

Mortimer: of melrose thank you very much have a great evening very nice to see you congratulations thank you as was done in the alderman's work host committee previously i will be anticipating that we'll have a motion to conjoin the rest of the orders the reappointments in this committee but before we proceed to that a little bit of housekeeping um on this order i'll read it order two zero one nine dash five five reappointment of dr franskisco branchero 276 upland street for the board of health for a three-year term said term to expire on the last day of february 2020. uh he actually lives on geneva would uh somebody on the committee motion motion to amend to reflect the proper address we have a motion to amend this order to reflect geneva

The conjoined orders are now before us with one amended, as previously mentioned. Motion to recommend all the conjoined orders. Second. Second. Alderman Tramontozzi has made a motion to recommend for passage the conjoined orders with one of them being amended. Duly seconded by Alderman Lipper-Garabedian. On discussion. Seeing no discussion, I would just take a moment to say we thank all these people greatly. Re-appointments do not need to come before us because they've done a good job.

But all of these candidates have done a wonderful job. And by speaking myself, I have opened Pandora's box and Alderman Boisselle wants to speak. Just a question, on the three year terms, is that supposed to end in February 2022 for all of them? No, there's one in here that's 2021. Well, there's two of them here, 20 and 21. Okay. So, is that a, no, okay, so it's. That's correct. Good enough, thank you. Their terms are not congruous with the other commission. Okay, thank you.
