I'm a right-of-way engineer with Engineering and Data Solutions, representing Verizon New England at 125 High Street. Our petition this evening is at the request of the City Engineer's Office through the DPW to remove a tree guy that's in place so the tree can be removed. In order to do that, Verizon needs to place one new pole on the corner of East Emerson and Bellevue Avenue and to guide an existing pole, number 2106, on Bellevue Avenue. And that will continue to stabilize the pole line once this tree guy is removed. Sir, have you seen the communication that we received this evening, dated September 18, 2017, from the city engineer relative to this order?

Bryan thank you mr. president I just had a few questions for our guests if you could please return just a couple of questions thank you on the duration so you won't be doing the city be removing the tree itself or is the pole gonna go next to where the tree the the other side of the pole and then the city will later remove the tree is that I mean you won't be doing anything

Zwirko: with the tree itself correct Verizon will not be trimming or cutting the tree and generally if you're installing a new pole how long do you imagine this project would take it has to be scheduled once the order is passed assuming it will be passed it's in the schedule within 30 days typically in a 30-day time frame and the actual placement of the pole and the anchoring guy two days at most and generally do you know when work would commence during this like the the time frame of which just the reason I ask is because that intersection especially for commuting is that street is frequently used to cut through between the Linfels Parkway and Upham Street and there is a four-way stop there it is a primarily residential area I'm just curious what the hours of

They're celebrating their 25th anniversary and having their upcoming Walk for Bread on October 1st. And as National Hunger Awareness Month, or Hunger Action Month, is September, I thought it fitting to recognize that here in Melrose with this resolution.

Medeiros: A resolution recognizing National Hunger Action Month, whereas September is National Hunger Action Month, and whereas chronic malnutrition weakens the immune system and can lead to stunted growth, poor cognitive ability, fetal defects, mental retardation, and even death, and whereas the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that about 795 million people of the 7.3 billion people in the world, or 1 in 9, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2014 to 2016. And whereas approximately 3.1 million children die from hunger each year, and whereas about 10% of Massachusetts households, nearly 675,000 adults and children were food insecure in 2015, and whereas Massachusetts has approximately 266,000

Medeiros: food insecure households, nearly 124,000 of which face very low food security, and whereas the Greater Boston Food Bank serves 190 cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts distributing enough food to serve 140,000 people monthly, with one in three of those being children and one in five of those being senior citizens. And whereas the Bread of Life, based in Malden, serving 10 communities, including Melrose, is one of the largest distributors among the Greater Boston Food Bank's members, providing 1,056,000 meals in 2016, and whereas in 2017, the Bread of Life celebrates 25 years as a non-profit community organization, having started from a church supper in 1980, and whereas the Bread of Life holds its 25th annual Walk for Bread and 5K run on October 1, 2017

Therefore, be it resolved that the Board of Aldermen thank the Bread of Life for its actions to reduce hunger in Melrose and our region and congratulate them on their 25th anniversary. And furthermore, that the Board of Aldermen hereby proclaims the month of September 2017 as Hunger Action Month within the City of Melrose and urges every citizen to be sensitive to the problem of hunger and attentive as to how he or she may help provide assistance to those lacking in food within the city of Melrose, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and throughout the world. And we just want to thank the Board of Aldermen for your support and for Monica for particularly calling out the issue of hunger, one of the few communities that has. internationally recognized month we serve three senior buildings in Melrose we also serve Melrose families at our food pantry and we've actually served some Melrose families that are homeless and local motels so we appreciate your support the support of the mayor's office from the emergency fund and we

▶ 33:34 are just so thrilled that this is a highlighted issue because it can often you know fall off the go on to a back burner and we're excited to be doing our 25th annual walk run at Pine Banks right down the road so I hope everybody will come and join us for a great day yes this is a creamy wine event a lot of folks don't know it but you know the schools are involved churches are involved young kids have been volunteering in high schools along with Malden Catholic have been helping tremendously at the motels which starts off the whole program for the kids in the community it's a great program I started off doing that and then just fell in love with the whole program and trying to get out the word of the need around all our communities it's it's in
