This meeting is being recorded on MMTV in accordance with our Massachusetts General Open Meeting Laws. Motion to open the floor for public participation, Mr. Chairman. I got a motion to open the floor by public participation made by Alderman Mortimer, seconded by Alderman Tramontozzi. All those in favor? Aye. Any opposed? This is a portion of our meeting where anybody from the public can approach the table and I want to talk about the one order we have before us tonight. Seeing nobody willing to approach the table, I have a motion to close public participation made by Alderman Mortimer.

It's order number 2017-122. It's a transfer of $14,000 from city clerk and election accounts to city clerk salaries and wages set forth herein. motion to suspend the rules has been made by olivine tramitosi seconded by olivine mortimer all those in favor aye any opposed the rules are suspended we will hear from the city clerk we will hear from the city clerk good evening good evening so uh you have before before you my request and if you refer to it is it turnover personnel in the city clerk's office so the end At the end of this week, Ruth Covino is retiring after 10 years in the clerk's office, and
▶ 14:56 then Susan Carrasco, the assistant city clerk, she's going to be retiring at the end of the year, and she'll be leaving at the end of January of 2018. This is to cover training for three weeks. We've replaced Ruth with Melissa Ripley from the Health Department, and she started two weeks ago. So she's learning Ruth's job, and then she's going to be also learning Susan's job. Because Susan's going to be leaving. So you can see the situation in the office. Why we need the funds to cover for the training and for anticipated people leaving. President Kahn, please. Well, this is a transfer of money within your budget, this isn't an appropriation. It's a transfer. So you're transferring money around so that you can accommodate staffing during this transitional period and get your budget to the end of this fiscal year.
