CITY OF MELROSE FINANCE COMMITTEE CALENDAR● JUNE 9, 2014 Aldermanic Chamber Committee Meeting 7:15 PM The public should take notice that the Melrose Board of Aldermen may, on certain occasions, have a quorum in attendance due to standing committees of the Board of Aldermen consisting of both voting and non-voting members. Can't forget you, and now we are joined by Scott Forbes. Somebody else too? Alderman Wright. I said Alderman Wright. Yeah, I definitely said Alderman Wright. Sorry about that, Alderman . All right, forging forward, we have two orders on the bill tonight, but before we do that- Motion. I have a motion to open the floor for public participation. Duly seconded by Alderman Byrd. ▶ 10:20 The first order we have before us is order number 2014-147. There's an appropriation in the amount of $6,500 from account 29062-590000. Parking tickets to account 019313-551049, and it's a capital outlay for police vehicles. The chief is in the chambers tonight, so I would welcome a motion to suspend the rules from Alderman Byrd. Seconded by Alderman Tramontozzi, all in favor of suspending the rules that we may hear from the chief, please say aye. Aye. Aye, hearing none, we are under suspension. Chief, would you like to explain this to us and- Certainly, good evening everyone. Good evening. This is a lease for the police motorcycle that was started last year. It's a three year lease. The first payment we'll say is the trade value of the motorcycle, which was $5,500 last year for the first payment.
▶ 11:20 Peter D. Mortimer: Subsequently, $6,500 this year, excuse me, July 1 of this year and July 1 of next year to close it out at $18,500. With the lease, we negotiated some new helmets for two of the officers and new lighting equipment and sirens on the motorcycle. Thank you, sir. Any aldermen from the committee wishing to be heard? Ask the chief any questions? Any other aldermen? Motion to recommend. Seeing none, we have a motion to recommend this order for passage by Alderman Fern and Absolutely seconded by Alderman Byrd. It is a transfer of $500 from election part time salaries and 011621-512000 to city clerk advertising account number 011612-520500. We are still under suspension, so I would ask that our city clerk, Mary Rita O'Shea, please come forward and elucidate us on this matter. Madam Clerk of committees, that is, would you please let the record reflect that we have been joined by Alderman Jennifer Lemmerman. Thank you and welcome, Jennifer Lemmerman. So this is- Here we read all shape, proceed please. Yeah, it's self-explanatory, it's to pay for the ad for the rail corridor overlay district. And it's for the joint public hearing with the Board of Aldermen and the planning board.
▶ 13:06 Peter D. Mortimer: So this is to supplement what's already in my advertising account to pay for the ad. Now, the ad has to run for two weeks, consecutive, according to the zoning regulations, so. Very good. Are there any questions or comments from any Aldermen on the board? I mean on the committee. Seeing none from Aldermen on the committee, any Aldermen not on the committee? Seeing none. Motion to recommend. We have a motion to recommend this order for passage at our next floor board meeting by Alderman Inferna, duly seconded by Alderman Byrd. Seeing no further discussion, all in favor, please say aye.
