The month of October is designated as domestic violence awareness month. So given that week are in October. It would be helpful to hear

▶ 19:22 Paul Brodeur: that October is in fact domestic violence awareness month and if you'll indulge me and the folks here before me domestic violence Awareness Month of proclamation, whereas domestic violence is one of the most critical and far-reaching issues of our time affecting individuals every age culture class gender race and religion. And whereas according to the US Department of Justice domestic violence is a leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 that every 21 days a woman is killed by domestic violence and more than three million children witness accidents domestic violence every year. Whereas since October 16 16 people have died in Massachusetts as a result of domestic violence. And whereas for the past 27 years the Melrose alliance against violence in conjunction with the Miller's police department and the Melrose Public Schools has taken important steps to reduce domestic violence in our community Through education Outreach and support services as well as programs to prevent domestic violence such as mentoring peer leadership and bullying prevention. Therefore I Paul Broder mayor of the city of Melrose, Massachusetts do hereby get the Claire October 2022 to be domestic violence Awareness Month in the city of Melrose and recognize the accomplishments of the Melissa alliance against violence on its 27th anniversary and offer my best wishes for the organizations continued success. It is signed this day and as as you all know, each of you has had the opportunity to sign this and as we have each year of come together to recognize both the progress in the psalmility of the event as you know, this year will be a little bit different because the

It will be my first one as the Director of Maeve and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone there as you all know, this is a community awareness event to raise awareness of domestic violence, but also to fund our programs and services and to continue to expand those programs and services for the community.
