RES-2023-4 : Resolution honoring Chief Lyle

This is a resolution that was filed by all 11 members of the city council to honor Mike Lyle our current police chief upon his retirement and just to read the resolution into the record. Whereas Chief Lyle has served the city of Melrose as the police chief for 15 years, whereas prior to his appointment as chief chief Lyle served the city for 21 years as a police Lieutenant Sergeant traffic officer and police officer. Whereas Chief Lyle has been involved in many law enforcement and Community agencies throughout his career including serving on the board of directors for the Melrose alliance against violence since 2006 be it resolved that we the members of the city council. Thank Chief Lyle for his dedication and Decades of service to the city in Sandwell, which is for her's retirement and all there for be it resolve that on this 21st day of November in the year 2022 that this resolution be spread upon the records of the city council and forever preserved in the records of the city of Melrose. I would also motion for immediate consideration which I forgot to do because I'm not used to sitting on this. the time

Ten minutes or less right women that are here tonight, but the entire police department they're reflection on our city me and I can't thank them enough most importantly covid when we're dealing with covid those police officers are going in a house as we call them hot hot calls not because of the call because of what was in that house. We know there was at least one person present that had covid they went in there PPE was just starting to come out. We really didn't understand what the virus was and they were going in whether it was a you know, a domestic call a medical call, whatever the call. And they went in there and you know what? I can't think of enough what they did. that that's it. Certainly my wife Eileen who's here? She's put up with me for about 15 plus years. Phone calls the middle of the night weekends. We're up in a Hampshire coming home this in bed this and that and you know what? I certainly owe my wife a lot Kevin.

She'd been a police department about five years. She's been a sounding board for me for five years. Analytics, she's done it all prime analysis, even the state one of the piece of her, but Melrose PD has her so, thank you so much Kim. And again, thank you to the community and thank you for you know the pleasure to serve as a chief of police for 15 years. And I spent my most of my adult life in a uniform that's going to change but we'll get through it and the next chapter begins. So thank you very much. Thank you the community.
