First since we have members of the administration here tonight to speak on the orders before us I'm going to like to motion by unanimous consent to suspend the rules before we proceed. Seeing no objection. The rules are now suspended the first item on. Our agenda tonight is appropriation 2023-13 requests for an appropriation of Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities Rideshare allocation fund number 2921 in the amount of 10,274.50 tonight. We have Elena prokis director of DPW here to speak with speak to us on this order.

▶ 11:05 Speaker 1: So this is just acceptance of our annual ride share allocation. They give us 10 cents per I don't say this wrong. I think it's per trip the originates in Melrose and so our allocation this year is just North of $10,000 our allocation in some prior years had been quite a bit more but covid really decreased the number of rides the people were taking but we're up a tiny bit from last year. We were required to use this money for something Transportation related and in the past we've chosen to use it for various projects curb ramps signage those sorts of projects this year. The traffic commission doesn't have any budget and we're often requested to approve new crosswalks. And so we're suggesting that we use it for a new crosswalk that we've just approved at Grove and walnut that came from a resident request in that neighborhood. We recently put into other new crosswalks on Grove. at Linwood and Dill and we're now going to add one at Walnut too because it's near a bus stop and we've been told a lot of kids cross there and it was a desired location. It was I believe unanimously supported at our traffic commission meeting in December.

I was nice to see you this crosswalk that year is in ward 6 and I know it's something that we have been talking about for some years and also councilor Williams because it does connect towards seven. Do you have a timeline for when we could expect implementation? I know the crosswalk at Lynnwood and Grove took almost two years to from the vote to actual implementation. Yes, the we would hope to do with this construction season borrowing any unforeseen circumstances. I would describe the Linwood issue as an unforeseen circumstance where there was a double pole and the old pole was in the way of where he needed to put the curb ramp and so we couldn't put it in until the poll was removed and the utility companies ran into some problems with other attachments on that pole. And so we don't foresee anything unusual with this one. It should be done this year. Great. Thank you.

▶ 13:22 Ryan Williams: the questions but I wanted to say thank you for thinking of pedestrians as a transportation priority because you know, it's one of the easiest zero carbon Transportation forms that we have and appreciate you putting that money towards These crosswalks and and are you thinking that the money would actually do have one question? Sorry. Are you thinking that the money would fund just the Walnut crosswalk or complete the Linwood crosswalk with paint or well that

▶ 13:50 Speaker 1: one will get completed. Anyway when we paint this year, but it should be able to fund 10,000 should easily fund to curb ramps. Yeah plus the signage. And if we have any leftover, we would just put it toward other curb ramp projects. That's great. Thank you.
