▶ 24:06 Robb Stewart: Thank you madam president. I just wanted to point out the message that Mr. Hamilton had provided. I think it sheds light to further reason to reconsider this in our vote the fact that many of these apartments in Melrose are illegal and if we are going to vote this it could only propagate that. That fact I think what we should ask is for a tighter control on the the management of these in-law apartments from a taxation perspective prior to voting this into into the council. So, thank you madam president.

▶ 25:12 Jack Eccles: my my opinion on this hasn't changed much especially since a special permit is still required for the purpose of you know, getting an in-law apartment. You know, I I am totally open to having a discussion about short-term rentals in Melrose, but I think that can be done separate apart from voting on this order, which I think on the merits is good and really just cleaning up some language which would present which would prevent us from having to Grant variances that we've almost unanimously granted before. Thanks.

I want to voice my support for the amendment and also note that I've had discussions with the Building Commissioner on the issue of short-term rentals. We've looked at the growth and short terminals over the past few years currently in Melrose. There's about 50 short-term rentals for a population of around 30,000 people. So we don't really see it as being I don't really see it as being an issue that's ballooned in the last several years, but it is certainly something that I have an appetite for in terms of passing or proposing regulation by this body and I hope that we'll be able to take that up in this term.
