▶ 41:49 Leila Migliorelli: Madam President. This comes from Appropriations and Oversight Committee with a recommendation for passage. And at this time I motion for passage. Second.
▶ 41:55 Jen Grigoraitis: So we have a motion for passage made by Councillor Elli, seconded by Councillor Ella. Anyone on discussion? Councillor Carm Chaney.
▶ 42:03 Manjula Karamcheti: Um, thank you Madam Chair. I just wanted to say one that I am in support of this order. However, I was not here last week, so didn't get the chance to just be able to say that while I support this, I also want to make sure that we as a council, the City of Melrose, also considers that we have populations of Melrose residents who are struggling with alcohol addiction, who, um, are recovering, um, from alcoholism. And we have adults and youth who are the children and families of those who struggle with alcohol. Um, and so I wanna make sure that while if this passes that we are celebrating and moving forward with those businesses, we are also through health and human services and through partnership in our community, that we can continue to think about opportunities for those kids and families to be involved and be engaged in businesses and partnerships and events outside of those that involve alcohol. Um, alcohol is a neurotoxin. It impacts youth brains and adult brains. And just wanna make sure that we continue to remember that, um, as we move forward, um, with breweries and more opportunity for alcohol in our, in our city.

▶ 43:38 Robb Stewart: Thank you Madam President. And, and, uh, through the chair, I want to appreciate, uh, council Chetty's, uh, comments. Um, I concur and feel quite the same as her. Um, and I am, I will reluctantly support this, uh, with the contingency that, uh, I strongly encourage, uh, the Liquor Commission to, uh, impose the same standards as every other restaurant that we have in that, uh, there is the two drink rule, uh, that you're not there just to drink, that if you're gonna consume more than one alcoholic beverage, that you need to have food. Uh, also that, uh, the Liquor Commission really established strong rules against people that over imbibe and, uh, are become out of control, uh, or, uh, become, uh, a in a situation where they could be a danger to the, the community. Um, and to communicate that clearly to anybody that's gonna be registering for, uh, a license to open one of these breweries. I think it's serious. We have a good community. Uh, I'd hate to see that impacted, uh, by inappropriate or not well thought out rules. Thank you, Madam President.
