Chair Garipay asked what is the year of the oldest vehicle, and it is 2021. The average age of a cruiser is 4-6 years. Melrose has one 2023 cruiser and the rest are 2021 cruisers. ▶ 35:15 Mark Garipay: Um, all in favor? I. Opposed? That, uh, ID will be recommended. Last up to you, Chief, is ID 2025-776. State earmark, $50,000 for a police cruiser.
▶ 35:30 Speaker 2: Yes. So again, thank you to the state contingent for that. The $50,000 will be, uh, towards a new cruiser. Uh, the new cruiser costs more, uh, but I do have funding available that should be able to handle everything. One of them being that previous grant we talked about, the laptops, that will go in that. And we can probably repurpose some of the, um, mobile radios that are in the cruisers that we would be taking out of service. Um, we have a fleet right now, our, about 2021s, um, is the average age of our fleet that's currently on the street. Doesn't sound like a lot, uh, that old for a personal vehicle. Uh, but the average lifespan of a police cruiser is four to six years, uh, considering they're running, um, 24/7. So this will help us get a little bit ahead of the curve. Um, it's not gonna solve everything, but, um...... that's... So, and we wouldn't need any more money coming back to the council. I got some funding to pick up the difference of, uh, 50 to whatever that final cost is. The estimate right now as, is about $75,000 just for the cruiser. That doesn't include outfitting and radios and laptops, but I can find funding for that.
