▶ 4:00 Manjula Karamcheti: Hi everyone. I am honored to share this resolution honoring Ward five City counselor Sean m McMaster, uh, offered by me Ula Carrum Shady Ward one. Uh, whereas Sean McMaster, a dedicated public servant, has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to the city of Melrose. And whereas under Rule 52 of the rules of order of the Melrose Board of Alderman at the time, Sean McMaster was elected among seven candidates on the first ballot on March 12th, 2018 to fill the vacant Ward five seat showcasing his early dedication to civic responsibility. And whereas Sean McMaster was subsequently elected by the residents of Ward five in 2019 and reelected in 2021 attesting to the continued trust and support of the community. And whereas Sean McMaster has held various chairmanships including protection and license Public Works special committee on the rules of order, and served as council liaison to the Melrose Veterans Advisory Board demonstrating his diverse contribution contributions to the city's governance. And whereas Sean McMaster holds the distinction of being the last official in office to have served on the Melrose Board of Alderman, and he is also the last sitting member of the very first Melrose City Council, symbolizing his historical significance in local government. And whereas Sean McMaster has been a vocal and visible neighborhood advocate on critical issues such as responsible development, traffic safety, and improved infrastructure, showcasing his dedication to the wellbeing of the community. Whereas Sean McMaster's key legislative accomplishments include the passage of transparency orders, acquiring public reporting on the sewer maintenance work, Melrose Emergency Fund, spending real estate and excise tax relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and relief to members of the Massachusetts National Guard, as well as noise monitoring and reporting requirements for the 99 Washington Street development, reflecting his commitment to transparency, community welfare and responsible governance. And whereas Sean was, has demonstrated extensive community involvement serving six years as a commissioner on the Melrose Human Rights Commission, seven years as vice president on the Melrose Alliance Against Violence and contributing as a former volunteer tutor with the Melrose English Conversation Program. And whereas Sean McMaster, a 15 year parishioner of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Melrose, council number 1 28 and associate member of the Lieutenant Norman Prince VFW Post has showcased his dedication to both civic and community organizations. And whereas Sean McMaster's professional career spans 25 years as a public servant contributing to the Massachusetts Department of Correction, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, and the Middlesex Sheriff's Office demonstrating his commitment to public service. And whereas Sean McMaster serves served as a mentor to Modula Carm Chaney in her first two years of service on the Melrose City Council, providing invaluable perspectives on rules, process, policy, and the role itself contributing to the development of future leaders. And whereas Sean is a 17 year resident of Brazil Street husband to Shannon and father to Emma Marie or Emma Mary. He is a proud husband, father, and community member in Melrose. Now therefore be it resolved that the City Council of Melrose hereby expresses sincere gratitude and appreciation to Sean McMaster for his outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the community, be it further resolved that the city council recognizes Sean McMaster's numerous contributions to the city, both in governance and community involvement, and commences his tireless efforts to enhance the quality of life for all Melrose residents. This resolution shall be duly recorded in the official records of the city on this 18th day of December, 2023. Presented to Sean McMaster as a gesture of appreciation for his significant and lasting impact on Melrose.
