Now we'll proceed to the business of electing a president for 2025 and a non-binding caucus. On December 2nd, 2024, councilor Lila MLI was unanimously nominated and subsequently elected to the office of President of the City Council for the City of Melrose. A binding vote is now required to formally elect the city council president for 2025. Is there a motion now to formally open nominations for presidency?

Our constituents have elected us in the hopes that we will be engaged, involved, and prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lay before us. Our responsibility is to participate in thoughtful discussion, ask tough questions, and balance immediate needs with long-term challenges in our decision making. As your president, I'm here to help facilitate and shepherd the council through the work that we do. And I'm counting on each and every one of you to show up and join me in work doing your part too.
