The Mayor's Public Safety Facilities Advisory Committee met in the con the, uh, Cassidy Conference Room on Friday, February 7th at eight 30 to level set this report and frame it in proper context. This is an advisory committee. Previously, various iterations of the Public Safety Building Committee met,

▶ 21:53 Ward Hamilton: had discussions, voted on items, and guided the process. This is an advisory committee that will make recommendations to the mayor and she will lead the process and make the decisions. The BB property is transferred from the school department back to the city, and the mayor has assigned its use to the police department for the new police station. The library will transition out of the BB and into the renovated library space in late March. We discussed bond authorizations and concern over seeking several tranches over the seven year duration of the project versus one issue. DLS and bond council will advise. We expect the West Side Fire Station project to out to bid in September.

▶ 22:40 Speaker 10: The design development phase of West Side is complete in four weeks. We will have pricing back from the estimators and value engineer if necessary. The landscape design at West Side Fire will include a Memorial Park dedicated to fallen firefighters project manager Denise Gaffey has met with the MBTA in reference to securing use of the parcel between the rear of the station on Remont and the railroad right of way. A 99 year lease is sought. DPW has assisted in the design of the drainage and stormwater control in the area where per permeable pavement is planned for the parking lot. In April of 2024, we received a $3 million federal grant through the Buy America Build America program for the police station. This program requires that all materials are American made. It appears to be untenable. This will represent a $3 million loss to the budget. On Wednesday, February 12th, a meeting was held with the BB neighbors at the Milano Center to, to discuss the police station project and to review the design changes they requested. I forwarded the presentation to the council via email last week. The neighborhood will be provided with the opportunity to choose which of the four options they'd like for the new building's exterior. On February 25th at 7:00 PM there'll be a neighborhood meeting, uh, at the West Side Station on Carmont Street. Our, um, beloved, uh, parks director for many, many years. Um, she passed away, um, unfortunately and suddenly last week. Um, so just would like to take a few moments to, um, acknowledge her.
