Report: Outreach School Committee Member Seamus Kelley reported on his attendance at the MASC conference last week, alongside Ms. Driscoll and incoming School Committee members. He noted the high quality of professional development workshops regarding effective School Committee functioning. Mr. Kelley also announced his intention to seek the position of Chair for the 2026 calendar year. 2. Report: Superintendent Mid-Year Evaluation Chair Withey presented the mid-year performance evaluation for Interim Superintendent Berman. The evaluation indicated that Ms. Berman has provided highly effective leadership during a period of significant transition and budgetary challenges, placing her on track for proficiency by the end of the school year. Committee members expressed their appreciation for Ms. Berman’s courage in stepping into the role during a time of uncertainty, her focus on students and the district's mission, and her dedication to all students and the community. Uh, so look forward to additional conversations in December and also learning more about the city council and some of the next steps we're taking too. So I appreciate it. ▶ 16:54 Speaker 2: Ahead. Sure. I just wanted to update everybody that I went to the MASC conference last week for a couple of days on the Cape. Uh, Ms. Driscoll was there in her position as the head of SBO and our incoming school committee members were also there. So it was a great opportunity to get together and do some really good professional development workshops around how school committees can function well. And I would truthfully encourage, um, everybody to try to take advantage of it in the future. I thought it was, um, a step above sort of charting the course. It was really a helpful meeting, um, lots of opportunity depending on what you're interested in to get some good professional development and hear from other school districts. Um, some key takeaways on behalf of Melrose is we, thank God we're not regionalized. That was one of the big ones. Um, um, uh, and a variety of other things, but I attended a number of workshops that I think would be helpful, um, as a member of the school committee. So thank you for nominating me.
