Report: First Week of School Update

▶ 14:58 us? Okay, a motion by unanimous consent to close public comment, and we're now moving into announcements of the superintendent, and she has several of them for us tonight. Superintendent Berman, take it away. I do. So just wanted to give a brief report on the first week of school update. So we are-- just finished day eight for most of our students. It has been, from my perspective, a very positive start to the school year based on feedback from students, families, and our educators. I was able to visit every elementary school classroom other than the kindergartners the first day of school, which was really great. Saw students already establishing routines and making new friends, and it was just

▶ 15:42 great to see the energy back in our schools. I'm slowly making my way across the secondary campus. It seems like it should be easier because I'm right there, but I think sometimes because I'm right there, it makes it a little bit harder. But it has been really nice to see the students and the staff back in our classrooms and learning. We certainly have classrooms that are staffed. Again, thank you to the override. Our student-teacher ratio is much lower than our past couple of years, which you'll also see in the enrollment report. We have our sports, our marching band, our color guard, and other competitive activities all underway. So certainly once that day's over, it's still a lot of activities going on, a lot of students doing what they love.

▶ 16:28 And then our after-school clubs and activities, especially at the secondary level, are getting started and getting established and getting their leadership in place. So our teachers are continuing to engage in professional development and collaboration as we implement our new curriculum, which is exciting and also a challenge. And then just EdStation's also underway in all schools. We have 805 students currently enrolled in EdStation's, and our morning program has 92 students enrolled. Currently, we have a wait list. We have 12 students on the wait list at Winthrop that we're waiting for some staff, and it's also some space issues. We're hoping to have that rectified as quickly as possible. And we have seven students at Horace Mann who are asking for a

▶ 17:18 3:30 pickup that we're having some difficulty staffing and accommodating. We have offered a 5:30 slot to all seven of those families in order to help accommodate their needs. And in terms of the morning session, like I mentioned, everything's all up and running at all the schools. We do not have any schools on a morning wait list, and we've been able to accommodate all the families who want an early drop-off. So lots of good positive energy and good things going on that I hope continue. Okay. Any questions about the first week of school update? Okay. Moving on. Enrollment update. The central admin office continues to be pretty busy, to be honest with you, with some withdrawals and some continued registration.
