This is ID number 2026-1172, an appropriation from free cash to the school department in the amount of $12,193.20 to purchase vape detectors for Melrose Middle School.
▶ 2:13:22 Speaker 9: Yes. Thanks again for having us. So you have three free cash requests from the schools, first being a little north of $12,000 for vape detectors at the middle school. We currently do have vape detectors in the restrooms at the high school, and we're proposing to use these funds to install them at the middle school. As we all know, vaping is a big risk behavior for adolescents, and it's readily accessible. And so this is twofold. It's to install them so that they're technological in the fact that they can notify administration when they trip. And then it's also a deterrent. We want people to be able to walk into the restrooms and feel a sense of privacy, dignity, and so this is a deterrent to do that activity in the restroom. So be happy to answer any questions you may have on the vape detectors.
