Forbes: As a 19-year service member of the United States Air Force and as an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, it truly is an honor to be here and to read this resolution this evening. A resolution recognizing Gold Star Wives Day offered by the Melrose Board of Aldermen and Mayor Dolan whereas the city of Melrose and the Melrose Board of Aldermen honors the sacrifices made by spouses and families of the fallen members of the Armed Forces of the United States and whereas Melrose Gold Star wives and Gold Star families hold a sacred place in our community and are deserving of both recognition and support and whereas April 5th 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the first meeting of Gold Star wives of America Inc and whereas Whereas April 5th, 2015 is declared Gold Star Wives Day nationally and here in Massachusetts and whereas Melrose is home to Gold Star wives and Gold Star family members who responded to unimaginable tragedy and continue to serve their community and advocate for veterans and their families. And whereas the sacrifices of the families of the fallen members and veterans of the armed forces the United States should never be forgotten now therefore be it resolved by the Melrose Board of Aldermen that April 5th 2015 should be designated as gold star wives day honoring and recognizing the service and sacrifice of the gold star wives and gold star families in their important role in their community in our veteran population and that the residents of Melrose are encouraged to observe gold star wives day to promote awareness and provide support of gold star wives families due to their importance their important place in our community signed by president donald kahn and mayor robert dolan thank you thank you very
