First item on tonight's agenda is appropriation ID number 2026-1150, appropriation from free cash in the amount of $244,944 to the school department for Medicaid reimbursement received in FY25. Joining us this evening, Mr. Ken Kelly. Thank you so much for joining us.
▶ 8:36 Speaker 6: Sure. Thank you so much. Thank you for your time this evening. Deputy Superintendent of Finance, Ken Kelly here. You have in your packet our annual request for our Medicaid reimbursement through the city. And I'm here to answer any questions you may have respectfully as you consider this request.

▶ 8:58 Bradley Freeman: Mr. Kelly, thank you for being here. As a new counselor, could you just provide me with a little more information just about the process of the Medicaid reimbursement, what exactly that entails, and how the school goes about determining what it is?
▶ 9:09 Speaker 6: Sure. Yep. Sure, I can do that. So, I'll back up one step. We have several different revenue sources outside of the city appropriation where we receive revenue outside the city's appropriation, this being one of them. So, through the federal government and then at the state level as well, certain special education services, predominantly like OT, PT, physical therapy, things like that, that blend more with some medical services. Students with IEPs may receive these at the school site, and as such, the school's allowed to apply for partial reimbursement for some of those costs to deliver those services at the school level. Just as in other parts of-- students may receive or under IDEA, people may receive these services in any number of ways, one of them being at the school level. So, we annually request the funds that are received to the city, then are appropriated over to the schools based on those services that were delivered at the school level.
