It is acceptance of an EMD FY 2016 training grant in the amount of $72,724.91 from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety, DOPS. Chief, would you come forward? ▶ 1:54:52 Speaker 7: I'll give you a brief overview. This is a grant that we've applied for the past several years. It's a two-part grant. It's the EMD, Emergency Medical Dispatch, and our training. Annually, each officer has to complete 16 hours of in-service training for our 911 system. the EMD grant that portion is $18,000 we have an EMD resource Cataldo ambulance handles that for us so a 9-1-1 call comes in for a medical it's transferred from our dispatch to Cataldo ambulance who deciphers it it's a BLS or an ALS call they contact Melrose fire they respond appropriately and we pay eighteen thousand dollars for that resource it seems to be the best way for for us to handle it at this time liability wise and other the 16 hours of in service for all our officers we have three positions in the police department and dispatch one is unstaffed so that's why the entire police department has to be trained in that for the 16 hours that's pretty much it Thank You chief
