Medeiros: the team to please come up as well robotics so it's pretty clear that we have a lot of talent here in Melrose and it starts from a very young age these three young folks here are all members of the Roosevelt School third graders and they worked very hard and got themselves to the world championship for robotics and we love to honor them and I think we have a copy of the judges award here that

Medeiros: they've brought along with them so without further delay I will read the order this is a resolution honoring the members of the Melrose VEX IQ team 2 4 6 B Leonardo Garber get Gabriel Dixon Maya Weissman for region receiving the judges award at the 2016 VEX World Championship whereas Leonardo Garber Gabriel Dixon, and Maya Wiseman, third graders at the Roosevelt School, comprised the Melrose VEX IQ team 246B for robotics, and whereas the team 246B were named the teamwork champions at the Southern New England VEX IQ Bank Shot Championship, and whereas 246B went on to compete in the 2016 VEX World Championship held in Louisville, Kentucky, where they competed against more than 1100 teams ranging from grade 3 through the college level and whereas team 246 B ranked number 39 out of 71 teams in the elementary school division and whereas team 246 B won the judges award presented to a team that the judges determined deserves special recognition and whereas the judges consider criteria including team displays of exemplary effort and perseverance at the event or team accomplishments or endeavors throughout the season that may not fit under existing awards but are nonetheless deserving of special recognition. And whereas the Melrose VEX IQ team 246B received the judges award for honesty, genuineness, and authenticity. And whereas they demonstrated an excellent understanding of their robot and the design process which they followed and were able to communicate this to the judges through their engineering notebook and a series of three interviews with the judges. Therefore, be it resolved that the Board of Aldermen recognizes and applauds these achievements and records these accomplishments in the records of the City of Melrose on this 20th day of June 2016.
