▶ 1:18 Speaker 1: case good evening most of you know who i am i'm bob driscoll from the marylands veterans advisory board and before the meeting started i i wanted to take a minute and i just want to thank the mayor's office president khan alderman forbes the whole board of alderman as well as our state rep paul broder for taking the time out of your busy meeting agenda tonight to thank the maryland veterans memorial middle school operation respect students for the work they did over the past year to honor veterans in melrose specifically our women veterans annually we accept 10 to 14 students each year to work with the veterans advisory board on on this trip project last september we had 74 students sign up for this task we were definitely overwhelmed we did everything we could to drop the numbers by assigning a book to read essays to write as well as research on women melrose veterans these 17 students honored tonight would not quit no matter what what we threw at them and we threw a lot at them i'm proud of them and tonight through the board of aldermen the community is also able to tell them how proud we are i also want to say the trips the past five years started as a veterans advisory board project but they are that no longer with support all the way from Senator Warren's office, Congressman Clark's office in Washington, to the Massachusetts State House, to the mayor's office, to the Board of Aldermen, the school committee, the superintendent's office, the high school, the middle school faculty, to the fire departments, the police departments, our VFWs, many of our local businesses like Liberty Bell and Bobby C's, these operation trips have now blossomed into into a community project of honoring respect for our veterans. It was best said by the director of the National Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Ms. Ann Marie Sharratt, who met with our students last month with the veterans and stated she had never heard of any middle school students anywhere in the country honoring veterans this way. She confirmed what we already knew. Nobody honors their veterans more than Melrose does i'm proud to be part of such a community thank you thank you sir is there anybody else
