▶ 28:24 Speaker 10: the order please. Good evening everyone. For those of you who don't know me I'm Jane Ahern DeFilippi. I am a resident of Ward 4. I am on the Executive Council of Melrose Council on Aging and I am also on the executive council of Massachusetts AARP. For those of you who don't know what AARP is, we're a non-profit, a politically non-partisan organization, a social welfare organization, and our membership in the entire United States is about 38 million, and our purpose is to provide a good quality of life for persons over the age of 50. Now, one of the things that is causing a lot of problems in the quality of life as experienced by not only our senior members of society but also everyone is the prevalence of fraud and that takes place in minuscule little everyday incidences that happen within the town of Melrose city of Melrose and telephone calls from fraudsters were trying to separate people from their money and that's why I'm really here today there for those of you who are familiar with a recent film and I'll go right to it catch me if you can this is an or this is a film about a young man who did some marvelous things between the ages of 17 and 21 certainly nothing that I ever did. He was able to steal so many millions of dollars by writing fraudulent checks. Again, that's something that we see frequently. He portrayed himself as a doctor, a lawyer, and an airline pilot. He did so many terrible, terrible things that they had a movie about him. But the reason that I'm here tonight is because that man, Frank Abagnale, has joined with AARP in order to help people understand how fraud takes place. And he will be coming to Memorial Hall on November the 15th. You all have this little flyer set out for you. I want you to know that this is only one of eight cities in the United States that Frank Abagnale will be coming to visit. And that's why I really felt it was important for, we all felt it was important to be here, to let you know that this man, this important person, is going to be coming into your city, visiting perhaps people who are from all of your wards, but also the surrounding towns and villages. So we wanted to make sure that you knew that there were going to be an awful lot of people coming to see him at Memorial Hall on November the 15th. everyone is invited please know that this is an AARP sponsored event but it's no ways limited to persons who are AARP members you don't even have to be 50 years of age to come and see him it is a totally free event the only thing that we request for the purposes of the fire department and the police department is that you do register and then we would love to have you there I'd be willing to certainly entertain any questions about any arp or about this particular event thank you very much
