Before we get to the one order, I do want to remind everybody that this meeting is being recorded on MMTV in accordance with our Massachusetts General Open Meeting laws. We have one order before us tonight. It is order number 2017-48. Be it ordered that the Board of Aldermen establish a subcommittee to screen candidates for the position of Clerk of Committees. Said subcommittee shall consist of three members of the Board of Aldermen and shall recommend three finalists to the Board of Aldermen.

▶ 1:31:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, I've drafted and submitted this order, as you all know, are very capable. Clerk of committees, Ms. Harrington, is going to be leaving, so we're going to have to fill her position. And I felt that out of an abundance of caution, it was best to formally establish a subcommittee through a vote of the board, just to make sure that we proceeded properly. I will tell you, many of you have been around for a while, know how I operate. Usually when something comes up, I draft a rule, and I'm working on a rule so that we won't have to take a vote like this again. And hopefully if I draft a good rule and you support it, then it will become part of the rules of the board. And we'll have a procedure in place in the future as to how we go forward in terms of replacing any of the, I think now it's only three members of city government who were appointed by the Board of Aldermen. It's three, is it not? Of course. But I wanted to get this order passed so that we could appoint a committee and that we could start this process going. The other thing that I should note is that the subcommittee that's interviewing people for the job will not be interviewing in public session because it's an exception to the open meeting law. We can't conduct job interviews in a public process, so the subcommittee, in terms of interviewing of all the candidates, would probably be meeting in an executive session or a private session. But hopefully, if this passes, they'd report back three people to the full board, and they would come before us, and we would vote to fill the position after we get to hear from them in open session. I will have a proposed order for you for the next meeting, for the rules.
