▶ 1:52 Gail Infurna: Madam Chairman as the Ward 5 alderman and as Samantha is a resident in Ward 5 I would like to just say a few words Samantha is a newcomer to Melrose but don't let that get you because she's been very involved in her Russell Park neighborhood as well as the community since she has arrived her in a family which consists of your husband and twin girls I believe she's worked in city and state government and has been an advocate for women issues and currently she's works in the state treasurer's office as the economic empowerment in the office of the economic empowerment focusing on wages wage equality for women and college savings accounts for low to moderate income families she's also skilled in digital communication which certainly would be an asset to any committee that she would be on and as always as a ward alderman I always take great pride in my constituents volunteering their time to serve on the committee so we welcome you thank you Alderman Inferna and for the committee's

▶ 3:25 Speaker 2: having me it's a real honor to be here tonight so thank you very much and thank you to Alderman Lemmerman for having me and inviting me and of course Gail my neighbor so women's advancing women and girls has been my life's work ever since I was a Boston public high school teacher, to working at City Hall in economic development. I've spent most of my time thinking about how girls and women can advance and succeed in society. I then had the fortunate experience of having two children at one time, in which I really was faced with some of the societal and issues around parental leave, the cost of child care which prohibited me to continue my work at the city so I then moved to run out my own little company where we helped early stage startup companies start and understand their fundraising strategy focusing on my work was on women-owned businesses and also women in technology never think getting I would get back into public service I served as a women's leadership fellow in the previous administration was asked to stay on and now I'm working in the Office of Economic Empowerment as Gail mentioned I am so lucky to be in this community of which I can finally partake in almost every activity I possibly can my kids are five so they can stay at home with my husband now and it would be a real honor and privilege to serve on this Commission to serve my city and to serve you all so thank you so much thank you
