▶ 26:31 Speaker 3: moving to suspend the rules so that we might read and present the resolution which is the subject matter of this order. Second. Seconded by Alderman Mortimer. We're on the motion, all those in favor? Aye. Anyone opposed? Motion passes.
▶ 26:48 Speaker 3: Ms. Harrington, would you mind coming up here for just a short time?
▶ 26:56 Speaker 3: So as we all know, and some members of the public may know, but many probably do not know, that the Board of Aldermen has had the extreme privilege of having Mary Beth Harrington as our clerk of committees for more than 16 years. And during that 16 years, I would suggest that the bulk of what we've done right has been because of her support and hard work. And when we screw up, it's because we haven't listened to her or followed her guidance. I think I speak for the whole board in indicating that it's been a pleasure to serve with you. We will miss you and we wish you well in your future endeavors. know that you do not like to be in the spotlight but tonight you have no choice
▶ 27:47 Speaker 3: and if the board would indulge me i'd like to read a resolution that we will present to miss harrington at the conclusion here and this is a resolution honoring mary beth harrington for her contributions to the city of melrose as clerk of committees and it's offered by myself and signed by all members of the board of alderman whereas mary beth harrington has served a clerk of committees from 1999 until the present and will be retiring effective february 28 2017 whereas during her tenure ms harrington has served with and given support advice and sage counsel to 28 aldermen and 13 presidents of the board of aldermen whereas as a result of her broad technical knowledge ms harrington took on responsibilities which were well beyond her original job description including serving as webmaster for the city in which she created and maintained efficient and appealing web pages for all city departments writing management administrative guides which documented management policy and procedures for the human rights commission researching planning implementing and training on a new electronic legislative process in melrose city government ensuring broad access to information a systematic approach to boards and commissions as a way of conducting business and whereas mary beth harrington served as the day-to-day contact person with the public at large and patiently and tirelessly sought to assist any and all individuals who contacted her whereas mary beth harrington has done her job in an exemplary manner and has demonstrated incredible conscientiousness i hope i spelled that right and as a result of her diligence has made things easier for all who have had the honor to work with her be it resolved that in recognition of her many years of dedicated service to the city of melrose and its citizens the board of aldermen proudly presents this resolution to marybeth harrington and offers that this resolution be spread upon the records of the city of melrose and a special copy of this resolution which i just happen to have here be presented to Mary Beth Harrington.
