▶ 2:34:56 Speaker 5: further discussion seeing none thank you for all of that moving on to item number two it relates to our proposed revisions to policy JFA BB the policy with proposed revisions is included in the packet these revisions as indicated in the document are being brought forward primarily at the urging or suggestion rather the superintendent who I think has rightly observed that the policy as written might lead one to conclude that our policy is somehow limited one just to quote exchange students or exchange program students and or that we are favoring certain sponsoring organizations to the exclusion of others and I don't think that's our intent so we should address that it's also the intent of the revisions to afford the superintendent the opportunity to adopt appropriate rules regulations and guidelines particularly with regard to tuition free exchange students I would remind the committee that this policy is before us for informational purposes only there's no vote required this evening and I would invite the superintendent to comment no I I thank

▶ 2:36:10 Speaker 2: you uh mr o'connor you you adapted the the policy to meet the needs that i'm seeing in the district we keep getting more and more requests about people hosting exchange students especially some of our families who were exchange students many years ago so i wanted to make sure we had a policy that recognized those opportunities as well as put in place some protocols for protecting melrose public schools especially as we have a growing enrollment so i thank you for that thank
