▶ 30:52 Speaker 6: agendas the announcements of the superintendent thank you I'm sorry on December 1st a group of Melrose educators went to the Metco conference with me and a couple of other administrators this is a great conference probably one of the best conferences we attend every year I'm grateful for the teachers who volunteered to come thank you to miss ward who underwrites their attendance through the metco grant the administrators do pay for their own attendance out of their budgets so that more teachers can attend this year's topic was beyond proficiency educating students of color with excellence and everybody comes back greatly invigorated by this the second conference that sue mcbride one of our teachers is taking our students two is you may or may not know we now have a uh i'm looking at somebody's teacher are we calling it a women's group at the high school we're calling it a women's group at the high school a group of young women who are who are finding their voice and being empowered and sue mcbride took seven of our students this year to the massachusetts conference for women held in boston on the 7th and the massachusetts conference for women has a special strand for middle and high school students over 500 women young women attended last year and this year they attended two sessions the gift of failure which is really a very important session we talked to kids all the time about the importance of feeling and learning from feeling and finding their voice through the spoken word and which was the use of literature and poetry especially to find their voice so again I thank all those staff who participated and enabled our students to participate
