▶ 37:30 Gail Infurna: resolution but anyways as i was doing this resolution and you know most of our resolutions are just one page i just thought to myself oh i think i need quite a few pages but i i did manage to get it all on one page and i know um with mary beth i've known her for a long time and i could tease her about all the pages that it would take but i know that her 18 years of commitment that that she has done to public service here in Melrose probably started back in high school and we probably could have had the same resolution with the same number of pages on it because I suspect she was as busy in high school as she has been the past 18 years. So here's a resolution honoring Alderman at Lodge, Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis for her 18 years of public service. Whereas Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis has been a proud lifelong resident of Melrose where she and her husband, Michael, have raised their two daughters, Alana and Molly. And whereas Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis has served a total of 18 years in public service, serving on the Melrose School Committee for eight years and the Melrose Board of Aldermen for 10 years. Whereas Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis has held several leadership roles as a public servant, two years as chairman of the school committee and served as the chairman of the Board of Aldermen's education and welfare finance and the protection and license committees she is also represented the alderman on the middle school building committee and the library building committee and whereas Mary Beth McAteer Margolis has been instrumental in the success of the Melrose substance abuse coalition the Melrose community garden and many recycling initiatives including co-sponsoring the plastic bag ordinance. In her role as MMTV's community outreach director, Mary Beth has made great strides in keeping our community informed. And whereas Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis' commitment to public service extends beyond her efforts as a member of this Board of Aldermen, as demonstrated by her work as a Melrose Rotarian for many years, where she served as president and is a leader in their successful youth exchange program. She has been a strong supporter of our public schools, our veterans, smart growth, as well as the success of our downtown's economic growth. And whereas Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis represents what it means to be a true community volunteer and activist, Mary Beth has always made decisions with the best interest of Melrose and its residents at heart. Be it resolved that we, the members of this Board of Aldermen, do hereby express our sincerest appreciation to Alderman Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis for her devotion to the City of Melrose and her work as a member of this Board. Be it further resolved that on this 18th day of December in the year 2017 that this resolution be spread upon the records of the Board of Aldermen, signed by each of its members, and special copy thereof be presented to Alderman Mary Beth McAteer Margolis and I know she's going on to bigger and better things because she won't keep quiet she'll keep on talking she'll keep on moving and we look forward to seeing and more community involvement thank you

▶ 41:26 Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis: I'm surprised it doesn't say where is Mary Beth McAteer Margolis has the largest longest name that's ever been on the ballot but now we may have a few competitors for that but thank you all so much I want to thank you know of course the public it's it's been an honor to serve this community having grown up here and and gone through the Marist public schools and and yeah I was a little busy in high school I guess too but I took a break for a while and and that's kind of what I'm hoping to do now so it's it's just really been a pleasure to serve with all of you and all of the people that have gone before you and then I have served with on the school committee I certainly thank the mayor and his his staff the staff that we have at City Hall and in the public schools is outstanding I think together we have really done a wonderful job helping to grow Melrose into the kind of community that we all hoped and dreamed about I've I've given you all a little token of the holiday season on your desk, and besides the fact that it's just pretty for the holidays, the symbolism behind poinsettias is that the leaves represent the Star of David, which the wise men followed on their journey. So as you wise men and women follow your star in the next few years ahead without me, I that the guiding light will really be what is best for this city and I am grateful that you have supported me in my endeavors and just so you can all have a little something to carry that home in I have been able to locate
